Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 04, 2010 12:25 pm Hi can anyone recommend a good builder in the Orange/Blayney/Millthorpe areas. So far I have looked at Rawson and Kensington homes house and land packages. Others are G J Gardner and Bell river/Sturgeon. Would be great to have some advice about what to look out for - all have snazzy brochures and Rawson has a great display home but getting the feeling with the house and land package that I would be paying over the odds for what are quite small houses (nothing like the show homes!). Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Re: Orange NSW - good builders? 2Oct 22, 2010 9:34 pm Hi Jooby I'm new too and came across this site looking for similar information ! We have been canvassing a few builders and so far for us the stand out in terms of responsiveness and helpfulness is GJ Gardner. They are all keen to sell of course by the Gardner consultant has actually been happy to spend lots of time explaining general things about the building process as well as give us advice on land. We have been talking to the bank this week about things and the manager told me to be wary of house and land packages - he said the builder will charge you a premium on the land and even though unless you're a first home owner you'd be liable for stamp duty, you will still likely end up a few $k a head by buying the land yourself. We had a friend who built through Kensington last year and who has been delighted with the end result. I also know another couple who built with Ray Tyquin (I think? something like that) who raved about him. I got the Bell River info pack today and haven't been a fan of the designs I've looked at so far but definitely need to look into it more. Have you made any progress since this post, do you have any info to share? Good luck Very common on rendered homes Smaller suppliers get the lower quality raw materials 6 11859 Hi all, We are looking to build a new two storey house in western Sydney.
