Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 01, 2010 1:23 pm Im just wanting to know if this time frame is long - we were hoping to be in by march/april which we thought was reasonable but im now doubting this So we paid our deposit with B33chwood on the 1 April August - In Council after a few tenders (due to them not listening) and a few plan changes (once again them not listening) it finally went into council September 11 - 4 weeks and 1 days - out of council So i accept all this (not that i have a choice) BUT the other day the guy we have been dealing with informed uu that once 'out of council' it goes to another dept to get the boxes ticked (turn around 1 week) Then goes to the contract dept - who collates all the paperwork for our colours and contract signing meeting and sends it out (another week) SO, we should have received our paperwork last week. I phoned him yesty and still atleast a week away from getting the paperword out to us I asked him how long till the contract meeting, and he informed me it wouldnt be until the end of Oct at the earliest and THEN they have 28days to be on site (apparently!!) We were hoping to be maybe at lockup by xmas - im now convinced this wont be happening. Why does the building process vary sooooo much from builder to builder!!! Its just to frustrating and time consuming! sorry for the whinge. We signed contract early June last year and slab didnt go down til the January after and we didnt have any specific delays thats just when the had time to start it I think. We mover in about 3 weeks ago. We were initially told 12 - 14 months so it was approx 14 months in total from signing to getting the keys. At least it was as expected rather than them giving us unrealistic dates. Re: Does this timeframe seem LONG! 3Oct 01, 2010 9:12 pm Thanx for your reply KristE.
