Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 29, 2010 9:55 pm Hey guys, we are in the process of building our first home. We would love to hear any suggestions/experiances. We are aiming at a budget of 220 k including site costs carpet tiles etc. We have a reasonably flat block approx 720 sq, and looking at houses in the range of 24 - 27 sqm. We have looked at a few displays , eden brae saville 25 leading the way. If anyone has had experiance with beachwood, allworth etc in this price range would be great to hear your ideas. Not sure if the eden brae is a realistic option on our budget. Re: Building on a 220 k budget Necastle area 2Sep 29, 2010 11:23 pm Don't know about cost or experience (I left Newie 10yrs ago). But, I like almost everything about this house. The thing I don't like if you have small kids (which I do) or are planning to have kids, then it is a VERY long way from kids rooms (especially bedroom 2) to find mummy or daddy if you are needed in the middle of the night. If you have teens...then perhaps their rooms are not far enough away . Their “package” price for the Saville 25 is $205K, which includes standard sitecosts, standard BASIX, standard flooring, standard etc. I am afraid your budget of $220K will blow out very quickly with real sitecosts (possible extra cut&fill, slab upgrade, piering, dropped edge beam, etc) and upgrades. If your budget is an all-up budget, i.e. including landscaping, connections to services, light fitting, window covering and the many many other things needed to finish a house then $220K is definitively not achievable. If you search this forum with keywords such as "budget", "sitecost", "upgrade" you should find numerous posts with information that will help you assess your budget.
