For those who needed plans endorsed

Hi there,

Just curious, how long did council take to endorse your plans once they were submitted? We had to go through Town Planning, once we received a planning permit we then had to resubmit the plans for stamping. No changes were required to the original plans. It has been 4 weeks now - our building permit is ready (apart from having the plans) and the builder is all set to go, however we can't start until we get these plans back. It's very frustrating as we are already 6 months behind where we would like to be all because of council - every little minute thing takes on average 2 months to resolve!!
Have you phoned council? Sometimes things can get lost in the bureaucracy.
Oh yes, we have called and emailed - every couple of days for the last 2 weeks. We always get an email response even though most of the time we call and leave a message for our planner to call us back or ask her to call us back when we email. Today we got a lovely blunt email reply. No reason as to why it's taking so long.
It took 4 weeks for ours to be stamped ........... I truly do not understand what these people do with their time.
For a DA our council takes 9 weeks normally, 4 weeks for a quick approval process, 2 weeks to book and then 2 weeks for a pre da meeting and feedback, 2 weeks for a construction certificate and that's without anyone making an objection!
Our process started in December last year - we are now at the very last thing (which is just procedure, all has been approved as previously mentioned). It's taken us 10 months so far. We finally got through to someone in the engineering department (our assigned planner was no help) who told us yes, it is taking too long, sorry, we are very busy blah, blah, blah, the guy looking at your plans is away, sorry again, we should have them ready for you by Tues or Wed. So fingers crossed for mid week!!

Gotta love local government... so efficient... such great customer service... NOT!

Thanks for your feedback - was just after an idea of what the average turn around is.

Really tight at the top of the stairs- how to get furniture into those rooms? Study books - does anyone really use them these days? Large storage closet would be more functional.

Ask the council if there is a chance of getting build over easement exemption. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck. And yes any builder…
