DeeElle, I was looking for something similar in the glassware many months ago, and found a huge glass canister with a lid from a shop called Provincial Living. I also found another similar one from Target, and Freedom have ones as well. They look a little like this:

The huge one from Provincial Living cost me about $80, and I plan to have white pebbles and a succulent in it in our Ensuite. As for the one from target (~$25 on sale), that will go in the powder room.

HI EVERYONE!!!

Sorry that i have been offline for a while but Telstra kept us waiting for over a week from when they were actually supposed to turn up and fit off the telephone point... But they eventually turned up last Firday and so i've now purchased a pre-paid dial up internet pack to keep me going until the ADSL is up and running....


Aaaaaaah where do i start?????? I'm about to explode with frustration....Heres is a quick rundown of what happened to us...No pics yet but there's plenty to come when the ADSL is connected!

Tuesday the 8th of July, we received our keys
Wednesday/Thursday the 9th/10th of July our timber floor was installed......

Now, heres where it gets painful. We purchased our timber and carpet from *** and although the products are good quality, their installers i have my doubts about..........Why you ask me?

Hmmmm......deep breath now......

The installer gouged the plaster wall next to the fridge, marked the walls, scratched the newly laid flooring in multiple places, he gouged the skirting boards and my one of our theatre doors. I rang to complain after seeing the second amount of damage happening to my house and requested that the Manager of *** Clayton come out to assess the damage that had been caused. I am still waiting for resolution....Correspondance with *** has been via Phone and E-mail to date.....i will keep you updated on that issue.

Then Thursday the 10th am the *** Mgr comes out, and the timber floor installer completed the install but i did not pay him - i am waiting the rectification of ALL issues before that will happen!

Then Friday the 11th of July, the carpet installers turned up!

Lovely i thought, show me this fabled POWER STRETCHER that is now the Aus Std of laying......the one i specifically asked the sales person if it was going to be used to lay our carpet.....which i was told it would be!!!

"Power Stretcher?" was the reply from the installer? "Aaaaah those Australian Standards don't know what they're talking about!!!"

I'm sorry but the **** hit the fan at that point!

No power stretcher even though we were told we'd have one, the damage to our home and still no offer of rectification from ***.....So the carpet AND timber floor installation still has not been paid for.

I will post this issue in a seperate thread soon when i have some pics to show you....

Anyway, whilst all this was going on, we had the blockage to the sewer which was handballed from Henley to their contractor to South East Water, back to the contractor and eventually the developer.....

BUT on the Thursday (the day before we moved in), i had the Handover Mgr, Constuction Mgr, Handover Supervisor and Site Supervisor on-site ankle deep in mud and who knows what else? trying to fix the problem and i must say it was rectified on Thursday....Our back yard was a quagmire of mud??? but at least we could shower and flush the toilets!!!! They made sure our plumbing was clear under the house with a camera set up all the way back to the South East Water branch connection and the street connection, which is good to hear.

Then we had issues with the flashing for the flue to the ducted heater unit, it had not been correctly done, so water leaked through the tiles and onto our ceiling, this left us with water tricking down the walls and pooling under the ducted heating unit, which is located above the kitchen area of the house. Henley promptly resolved that issue but then we noticed more water leaking onto the ceiling of our kitchen. This time it was the water outlet pipe from the heater that was not sealed properly and was leaking water onto the ceiling. Dandy Air, the contractor came out to repair it, but that caused another leak elsewhere as it was failing to drain correctly. So more leaks onto our plaster ceiling!! I'm sick of water features already in the house!!!

I must say though that the Henley Handover department have been right onto everything and we have had constanct contact with them. They follow up to make sure things happened when they were supposed to and to make sure we are happy with the result. So far so good....thanks to all concerned.

This week, i requested that the Manager from Dandy Air come out with the Handover Supervisor to actually check out the leaking issue themselves and to make sure that the problem was rectified once and for all!

So then....let me see, hmmm what else has happened????

Telstra can't get their act together and although the phone was connected last Friday morning...they still haven't signed off on the job so the new ADSL ISP can't see that our line is active and have therefore rejected our ADSL application! SO i've had to spend MORE TIME on the phone to Telstra to find someone who is willing and able to sign off on the job so that i can now re-apply for ADSL!!!


Oh yes, the new washing machine that Ian collected was not the right one, so we had to return that one and get another, THEN the new one had a crack in the top cover so we had to place and immediate service call to rectify that! Glad we had a 50% disc. through my mum, but still its not what you expect when you buy a new appliance!!....or a new house for that matter!!!

OMG, it has been so painful!!!

I'm still waiting for a phone call from *** and a meeting to resolve the issues we're having. I'm sure they want to get paid for the installs, (we've already paid for the timber and carpet itself) but not until we get what we are paying for! - A quality job!

I'm sorry to rant and rave and i have taken lots of pics to show you all.

The house was basically decorated (except for pictures on the wall) by Sunday the 13th!!! There is still some things i think we need but we're getting there. All the windows are covered and thats good. Need to source some panel glides for the sliding doors, but looks like it will be a custome order, therefore a bit pricey, therefore, not a necessity! LOL

We've had downlights and the IXL tastic lamps installed. The ebay chandelier is going in today (hopefully?). The alfresco fan looks great with the downlights out there. Have had the fences quoted too, so i'm trying to stay on top of everything.....but still plenty to do though.

Sorry to post such a long one, but i thought i'd bring you all up to speed on our issues to date.... For the diehards, the piccies are coming soon, blame *&^$#^ Telstra for the delay!

Sooo sorry to hear of all the issues you are having, and I can't begin to imagine the kind of stress you are under.

That's just not on about ***. I do hope everything is fixed to your 100% satisfaction...I would be fuming!! Kinda glad I'm not going through them. Might have saved me a few dollars, but I know I am having a top quality carpet and flooring instilation elsewhere (Power stretching and all).

At least you can relax in a nice warm bath. I hope you've managed to have that glass of champers

Sorry to hear about the *** drama!
We are contemplating using them but now I am not so sure. To save some money on flooring only to have to use it to fix up the damage caused by a sub-standard-contractor has me spooked now.

Oh you poor thing!!

Apart from being tired which in turn makes you emotional, the last thing you need when moving is all this crap!!!

I can't really say what I want to about the *** installers - I'd be moderated

And telstra?? No surprises after the hassle they gave us.
