Looks like your builder assembles the frames on the site, most builders seems to get them pre-made. I bet yours would be more accurate and better quality!

We have noticed some pre-made frames being delivered/installed around our estate....but yes ours was assembled on-site.
I have to admit, our chippies have done a wonderful job so far.... no chipped or broken timber being used, no bottom plates or studs are hanging over the slab edge, and the site is still fairly clean too....

Allan, I'm sure all frames whether built on site or off site are within tolerances, regarding quality that is. I would hope anyway???

Ask if your builder installs the roof before or after the brick walls.
If it's after, like us, all the frames will be soaked in water when it rains...

It's getting exciting now Phoenix.

My builders had the brickies there doing the garage walls while the frame was going up too so I guess there's a good reason for it (I just thought they were eager lol).

Do you live close to where you're building or is it a long drive to go take a look every day?

Ours is also at frame stage... but we have issue with overhang over slab edge. I noticed it... and one of the members here noticed it too. I thought it was alright.. good thing he told me it's an issue.

just reading your blog & oh my god lock up in 1.5 weeks !! Thats Fantastic!
I saw in the photos that the roof trusses are still being put on now so does that mean you will have the frame stage AND the lock up stage together within the week?

Our house is still having the frame finished, the walls are finished we are just waiting on them finishing off the trusses and for the windows to go in.

Anyway congratulations!

Hi Colleen, we live about 25km's away at the moment... So about 1/2 hour drive in decent traffic...longer obviously in peak...

We needed to brick the garage so that the brickwork would support the trusses.

Thanks Trina, yeah i know, 1.5 weeks, i started laughing.... then OMG, what do we need to organise... our home theatre wiring/network etc, telephone conn, pre-plaster inspection.... the mind started ticking...... a bit scary when it moves so quickly.... but VERY HAPPY... definitely not complaining.

We've only just paid our slab invoice, not looking forward to paying 2 invoices in such quick succession though... :cry:

Looking forward to seeing pics of your Carinya soon???

Ok, for those that might not have checked out my blog for the past week, here is an update:

Our framework is complete and it has taken 3 days for brickies (doing a fantastic job by the way) to complete the bricking of the garage.... This needed to be done so that the trusses could be laid on the brickwork of the garage... So it looks like this:

We met with our site supervisor "D" this morning, lovely guy, had a bit of a chat and a laugh....
As per his calculations, we're a bit behind as they couldn't get a good brickie on site for us.... so that has delayed things by a couple of days...
But the good news is.....they are hoping to be at lock up in 1.5 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great news!!!! But plenty to organise now.... moving along very quickly... i know it's going to rain early next week, but hopefully that won't deter them too much...

Looking good Phoenix, the garage looks a good size.

I called by this afternoon (for a sticky beak

) after checking out the garden around the corner. It looks like they are still contemplating what to put in the middle of the nature strips.
