Can't wait to see your slab next year!
I wonder if H is also using the waffle pod slab, same as our builder.

Did some research last night and it seems that it's the latest technology with slab... no trenching, so less soil disturbance; better insulation from ground, greater efficiency due to time savings, better for reactive soil sites, etc.

Thanks Vj, no they don't use your type of slab. They use the old fashioned way, or at least have with the other H3nley homes on our street - so i assume it will be the same as ours. M3tricon and PD use the waffle pod type of slab.

Will definitely keep everyone updated with loads of pics.... :lol:

Out of the 21 blocks in our court, there are now 3 houses completed and moved in :cry:

, 4 not started as yet and the balance 14 are in construction mode...(including ours) :wink:

Busy busy bees at the moment.....can't wait to see it all moving again next year....

Well we thought that we'd have another surprise when we went down to our block today....we were told that our site supervisor "D" was trying to arrange power to be connected by today(in an attempt to get as much done before Christmas as possible).... but when we went down this afternoon, there was no power.... :cry:

Oh well, we can only hope that when they re-commence on the 7th of Jan, it will be for drains, then power, then slab on the 10th.....followed by commencement of frame on the 15th. We've had a days of rain already in Melbourne so maybe it wasn't to be....

Anyway, we'll see what 2008 brings... :wink:

We went for a drive after dinner this evening to see if there is any movement at the block....

Well we're getting excited again as we have now taken delivery of the big green dumpster on our naturestrip....
Thanks to the bin-fairy for dropping that off sometime this week!!! :lol:

Sorry to be so excited about something so silly, but commencing next week our block should be a flurry of activity preparing the slab etc.....

seems like we are at a very similar stage phoenix.

we go to the block every night after work to see if there has been any progress. Pitiful.

My husband wonders if the people in the subdivision will think we are stalking them! I assured him that most ppl visit their blocks frequently

Well, we are building on a sub-division where there are going to be 34 house/land packages, ours hasn't started yet, one house has though and we go for a walk every day or so to check out progress on the neighbour's house

Now, that's pitiful!!! :oops:

yes we used to go down every weekend to check our piece of dirt months before building started...

Phoenix never thought builders use dumpster for their building rubbish ive just seen the wire cages on the building sites ...interesting

Yes there are a lot of builders who use the bins now, they actually line the nature strips on our street. (Not necessary a nice look, but better than the wire cages with crap everywhere....

The builder is suppose to start on site tomorrow...slab is scheduled for the 10th and frame to commence on the 15th?????

They'll be busy, busy boys i think.... will post more pics tomorrow night (if there has been anything done- of course :roll:

)

Anyway heard some happy news today... my friend and her family have bought a block not far away from ours....14 home blocks away from us - to be precise!!! :lol:

I know my kids will be absolutely wrapt....as they are very close to each other....

Don't worry, we also do that......... hehe.
And if something does happen, we take photos and stay for a while.

We did the same when our neighbours were building.. hehe.
Because it took us so long to decide which builder to go to.. and because of the issues we encountered with the other builders we had dealt with.. our construction got delayed.
Every weekend, we visit our block and look at all our neighbour's progress :oops:

We were just hoping then that we would start construction soon....
Now, most of them have moved in (except for2) and we just commenced construction.

Well we ventured down to the block again today...Because it's the first working day of the new year for our builder and guess what?????:

Our timeframe provided by our builder was:

14/12/07 - Site cut - COMPLETED 11/12/07

7/01/08 - Set Out - COMPLETED 11/12/07

8/01/08 - Drains

9/01/08 - Underground Power

10/01/08 - Concreter to start

Going back tomorrow for a look, see as they need to be on track for the concreter to start on the 10th of Jan and Frame on the 15th of Jan.....
The weather is clear and HOT for the rest of the week, so all going well, everything should fall back on track....and we'll be in the house in March!!!!!!!!!!!

We are being realistic and looking at May at this stage, especially cause we're using Kevin :wink:

We have been told that some homes are being finished in 4 months but 4-5 is the norm.... so we'll stick with May at this stage.......

No complaints if it's earlier.....

Tell you what, Mish, when it's done, you have a room if you ever need one okay???? Hey it's not Crown Casino, but nevertheless, we'll have lots of laughs together with scotch for you and red wine for me!!!!! :lol:

Ok….since I did this with Matt I’ll do it with you as well…..

I predicted Matt into his home at Christmas…..got that right.
I’ll put you in yours by, taking into account autumn and building in Melbourne….

Let’s say…..late May, mid June at the latest. Maybe I should come in July! :lol:

Might I ad here….not to the builders fault!!! :shock:

BUT THE ROTTEN WEATHER you all have down there!

If I ever re-locate….guess where I’m moving to????????? :wink:

Would have been nicer if we had a slab to party on, but it wasn't meant to be....
But I wish us all good luck forour respective builds this year!!!!!!!!!!!

Just as long as our builder sticks to the time frames they give us...i'll be happy.... I am expecting some delay as i said earlier as we will be using Kevin from New Home Inspections http://www.newhomeinspections.com.au/ but the builder is also aware of this so we hope the tradies allocated will all be top notch and therefore no issues.....

Well that's our expectation anyway...we'll see???? :wink:

Hi Phoenix

I know the feeling about that missed slab party before Xmas. Hoping for ours this week to. Sent Site Super SMS yesterday to see if we will expect anything this week after all the rain we had over Xmas-NewYear, still to hear back, and there is more rain due later this week.

We haven't quite got to the point of driving past each day, we still live an hours drive away. Two more weeks and we will be moving into a rental (first time we have ever rented) so we are on the island by the time school starts. Then I will definitley join the brigade of daily block visitors.

I have my fingers, toes, arms, legs and eyes :shock:

(I should have taken up Yoga) crossed that we both see slabs by weeks end.
