Our building thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=51657 Re: NBG Vaucluse: carpet & my fave pic of the build so far! 342May 05, 2012 10:18 pm mike- Re: window furnishings: Looks like we'll be moving in without . We are tossing up whether to go with double rollers (1 blockout, 1 sheer), the colour either white or white and black combo but at the moment leaning toward tinting windows and doing single blinds for blockout. Just can't make up our minds . Eventually, would like to surround the rear balcony in plantation shutters (to make it kind of indoor/outdoorsy). I first saw this in the lindrum dislpay here in keysborough and omg , luuuurved it! A bit different as that came off a bedroom as well but same concept. I've mentioned this before but loved that house just not the displayed price tag (stopped counting after $850K ) We considered these for the front also but to be honest, I thought they would take away from the overall facade from the outside because then you get this criss crossed kind of effect as our windows are joined halfway on the horizontal if that makes sense Gee, aren't you glad you asked now Yeah, glad I asked. I think we have similar ideas - double rollers or tint and single blockout...maybe a mix of both at my place & rear balcony in plantation shutters I saw that on a display home recently and it was just gorgeous... felt like I was sitting in a resort on a tropical island... and agree with not putting them on the front facade. The Vaucluse near us has plantation shutters on windows! Re: NBG Vaucluse: carpet & my fave pic of the build so far! 343May 05, 2012 11:04 pm Yeah that's right, mixing the tint and double rollers, that's the other option we're thinking of too! I Forgot about that Haven't figured out which we would tint and which we would double roller blind though This decision is almost the hardest so far Re: NBG Vaucluse: carpet & my fave pic of the build so far! 344May 06, 2012 10:29 am Jealous ..... Love it all, the home theatre built ins are such a good idea .... Well, congrats to all 3 of you with your fabulous taste.... I'd like to think I have good taste too... but not always the budget to fulfil my vision Poor mans sink for this little black duck!! I shouldn't be looking at all your gorgeous homes- it's making me desperate to see ours finished (when we haven't even started yet!!) Decided once I have moved in and have fly screens installed I would work out if I will have sheets underneath or a blind. It is hard decision as there are so many options. I have ordered curtains for two rooms to be made up now (master bedroom and spare bedroom). Have purchased some cheap curtains for living room and other spare room until I can afford to get them done properly. Re: NBG Vaucluse: carpet & my fave pic of the build so far! 348May 06, 2012 5:38 pm Oops. Must have been autocorrect on the phone. I mean't sheers....... I will have two rooms with full block out curtains done properly when I move in. Another two rooms will have curtains (but not full block out ones) as a temporary measure. As I gradually get a window done properly, the temporary curtains will move to the next window for a while.... Curtains are getting custom made for two Windows and when they install they will be putting up rods only in another three rooms. This allows me to hang up some cheaper temporary ones for a while. Original quote for entire house was $8200 and that is way too much initially. So they will be getting made as I can afford them. We're looking at tinting but haven't even got a quote yet Hoping it will be less than a blind cost as its either that or double rollers. Quote for those was 10k! Sounds outrageous but we do have a lot of windows to cover. W Re: NBG Vaucluse: carpet & my fave pic of the build so far! 352May 18, 2012 7:52 pm Update mike-??? have you secretly moved in and not told us??? Pics??? Re: NBG Vaucluse: PCI complete, still in waitingsville! 353May 19, 2012 10:41 am Hi rocketship. No haven't moved in yet! We had PCI last Monday, now their doing some patching up tasks. Builder is keen to have house looking schmicko before handover, so on the bright side they're we won't be waiting for touch ups after moving in (I'm looking for the upside on waiting longer ). In the meantime, still don't have a handover date , which I guess means another couple of weeks. We are still waiting on balustrading and front balcony glass also. We had PCI whilst waiting for that to be done and will go back again when complete. Glass company hasn't turned up as yet. Retaining wall going in too but wasn't in plans so shouldn't hold up handover I don't think. Nothing new to see really except site clean done and have been locked out now! Took a photo of the rear couple of days ago, so posting that one. The next lot of photos will probably be after the move. Waitingsville is nice to visit briefly... don't want to stay too long How does the saying go, "good things come to those who live in waitingsville" Ha, funny, I just googled waitingsville - I said it so many times it started to sound like it really was a place!!! Excited to see move in pics!!!! Good luck with it all - hope it all goes smoothly. Keep us posted!
