I moved in last friday!! Not 'we' as DH was away working, so it was an 'I' day. The movers. Not a bad lot, but I only went 10mins into the 3rd hour and they charged me for it. Retravisi0n deliverd my fridge, it was silver. I told him I ordered a white one, he said 'no you didn't love, this fridge doesn't come in white'..... I said 'yes it bloody does. I saw it! take it away' My white fridge was in his truck. He bought the right one in and then asked if I wanted the dishwasher installed for $100. I said. 'No I can do it'. he looked at me with a smile and said 'you can use a drill?' Honestly. It's 2011 and it's laughable that a female can install a dishwasher? I only know because my father taught me.. but still, I bet if my DH was standing there he wouldn't have asked the same question. So 2 tradies down and I was angry angry!!! Then the couch guys came. I asked them to take the boxes away 'no we don't do that'.....I was over it by this point. THEN MY LOVELY INLAWS AND PARENTS turned up to help on the saturday. They were great. My father in law taught me how to install curtain rails. My dad installed a fence and a clothes line, put together the kids beds and started on the lights. My mum put together 11 peices of furniture for me. most of it IKEA. What a trooper. My mother in law bought some nappies to the house when I realised I didn't have any at 7pm on the move in house. So after all that. Phase 1 of moving in, was done So I tried to turn on the Grand final on saturday......... no antenna. Really Life$tyle? All that money... all that paperwork... and that discussion about termite treatment, tree roots, foundations, upkeep of the house and not one person mentioned that I might need to install an antenna if I want to watch the news??? 5 tv points. not one could play me the game. I rung my CLO and told her on monday I wasn't pleased. I have never built before. How would I know I need to install one? I could have had it done weeks ago before I moved in. Not only did I have no Gran Final, I also had no playschool for my daughters.... arrrrr. so much to do and not one kids show to entertain them. Suffice to say I toddled off down to the Kmart to get a playschool DVD. (or DV, as my 3 yr old calls them) Ok. My rant is over. The house is amazing. I love it. I love love love the kitchen My biggest suprise with the house would be how much I a) love the ugle comfy couch my husband puicked for the theatre b) love having the TV in one room, with a closeable door. I will eventually hang the other TV in the main family room, but I just love how we are either watching TV (DVD's thanks to the builder) or cooking, or playing... I have taken some pictures. I didn't bother to tidy, before I did so, so excuse the mess. My 1 yr olds Bedroom Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ 3yr olds bedroom From front door Messy Kitchen Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Kids Bathroom Ensuite A couple of things I have Matt porcelain in the kids bathroom. It is a nightmare already. The polished is so much easier to keep clean. The matt accepts everything. I have mopped it almost everyday. So glad I didn't put it in the laundry! The sand - arrrrrrrrrrrrrr It's everywhere. If I ahd my time again, I would have paved teh entire house with the builder. and has to lawn installed while the painters where here. I have a quote to retic and lawn... I need more $$$$ He seemed nice though. I have worked out that he would be profiting about $1000 from the job. To be honest. All the backyard needs leveling, so I don't think I would do it for that much. Not sure. Waiting on a 2nd quote before I decide. CC101 hi Sheznay - your kitchen is amazing. what sort of benchtop do u have. where exactly do you have joints in your bench. Are they visible? Hi CC101 - the bench top is Dusk by Essa stone. the joins are very hard to see. they are on the corner of the U shape. I do love it! Excited to Build And we have used the same bright pink for our girls feature wall too!! After it went up I was like... omg that is bright!! But hopefully once all the furniture is in it will tone it down a bit! Everyone has commented on that pink. It's hard to describe. My daughters name is Scarlett, so it was a no brainer for me. I ended up matching lime green with it, but you could also do, yellow, white or purple! Excited to Build You also won the race... I didnt get keys til 28th Sept.. Yay, you win!!! I am going over to your thread now! I have only seen popsicle once since the start! That slab seems like a distant memory now! My friends has just done prestart, a part of me almost misses it. The guy who laid the vinyl planks did a cement ramp. He told me it took forver. I thought they would just have a grate step up. to be honest, it's going to be hard to puy skirting boards in with a slight ramp on the way. I wil try and take a pic soon.
