Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 20, 2010 2:42 pm Hi there, We are seeking feedback from people who have built with Cosmopolitan Homes and also specifically have built the Republica 34. We are looking at facade options and colours. We are also interested in knowing about your building process experience and finished product reviews. All help would be appreciated as we commence our knock down rebuild process. Re: Considering building Cosmopolitan Republica 34. 2Sep 20, 2010 3:50 pm Hi, I am currently building with Cosmo and not really sure what to say.. I guess your expectations of what to expect are different from the actual reality. Would I recommend them? Maybe, their staff are nice enough, but not sure how competent their business processes are.. Every little change you make to your design after you submit it through from the sales process is agnosingly slow.. Is it slower than any other builder? Perhaps not. Our build started early June and we are now into late September. So far we have 90% of the brickwork done and no roof or guttering.. Some peoples places fly up much faster than this. Wet weather plays a part, as does building in an established area no doubt. Put it this way, if I was going to build another house and liked a design from them at that time, would I consider building with them again? I'd have to say yes, as long as you are a patient person. We are building a modified cabarita design, with the downstairs floor plan based on the republica's. We wanted to build the Republic but our block was too narrow. Good luck and hope it all works out for you... A word of advice. Try and get the floor plan nutted out when you speak to the sales people as this will probably speed up your process.. Re: Considering building Cosmopolitan Republica 34. 3Sep 20, 2010 8:17 pm Thanks for the tips, we have been trying to make our changes now so that its all done when we submit tender. What inclusion package did you go with? I would be interested to hear how your build goes and the finished product. Re: Considering building Cosmopolitan Republica 34. 4Sep 21, 2010 10:42 am We went with the basic package then forked out the extra 5k for the platinum package. There were a few things during our colour appointment which we got thrown in at no charge like the silver alluminum frames for mirrors and showers in bathrooms, and upgraded handles for the kitchens.. The colour lady is quite nice, so I am sure if you get on well with her you can ask her if she can help you out with those. We stayed with the basic tile package, as we found something decent in this range at di lorenzo, but just paid for the upgrade to go to the ceilings. Taps we will re-do ourselves as we go. Kitchen we upgraded appliances just so that we could get 900 wide oven & cooktop. The standard is 600 which might cost you in the long run if you you want a bigger oven and cooktop later. Flooring we are doing after handover to save cost. They wack 20% on everything, so for something as expensive as flooring, it's worth doing later. I will be updating my thread soon hopefully when the bricks are finished and you can take a look. I guess we are still a few months away from completion.
