Browse Forums Building A New House Re: MrsGreen's Build (WA) 462Jul 09, 2011 9:44 pm Are you on your time off atm Thirsty? TBH this being busy stuff actually has an upside- i'm so exhausted I haven't had any insomnia for a whole week! I can't remember the last time I ever slept sooo good- and with the rain taking a break i'm not getting woken up every half hour by the kids too. Re: MrsGreen's Build (WA) 463Jul 09, 2011 9:46 pm Went and had a look at a couple of display homes on the weekend- well actually we went to 1 because I wanted to check out the laundry, it was in Sundays paper- but it wasn't open No sign or anything, just front door locked. Stupid weekend to pick to not turn up when they were in the paper! Found another one that has given me a whole new outlook on what i'd like to do, of course what I have in my head and what will work may be 2 totally different things! Re: MrsGreen's Build (WA) 464Jul 09, 2011 9:49 pm Mrs G, I actually get this niggly feeling that this one will go early, hope I am wrong. I am quite comfortable with going over now, especially with an hour and 20 for the entire labour. I like having DH there, not much he can do for me but he gets so much out of being there (finds it hard to see me in pain though). Poor bu@@er doesn't really get much interaction from me. Wish I could get over the insomnia, got a nana nap today so that helped. I am looking forward to seeing what your eventual house plans are. I can see the benefits of the 3 stories. Even though we have a single story we are off the ground and it didn't take me long to get used to going down stairs to get outside. Would have loved to run in with my gumboots on & do a tour Block bought 1st RBC X! 2nd Ventrua,Keeper! Not like much else will fit on ground floor lol. That would look out to over the park behind us. Not sure if it's at all possible, but I like the concept of both the void and natural light. I just saw a house for rent come up in the estate though and the pool is in a central courtyard, on the opposite side of the house to the alfresco area. You can see it from the front door (also some windows from the theatre), now THAT is a pretty cool feature from the entrance. I'm excited to see what plans we end up with too, lol. LOL KA.. i'm hoping mine is worthy of a magazine spread- but with 4 kids i'll be lucky if I have a hand print free wall after a day Re: MrsGreen's Build (WA) 467Jul 09, 2011 10:19 pm I like the sound of that KA...homes need to be lived in. New block of land- FINANCE APPROVED (awaiting settlement date). Now all I have to do is work my backside off running the company whilst waiting to 'pop'. Oh DH and I met with the 2 designers we were considering again. We both prefer one over the other- the other is very good don't get me wrong, but the other one just suits us better I think. I haven't yet told the one we're not going with, his assistance and communication has been brilliant, I feel like he has gone the extra mile for us IYKWIM. I feel like I should be offering him some money for his efforts? Re: MrsGreen's Build (WA) 469Jul 26, 2011 8:31 pm Great news Mrs G! Well done. I bet you are exhausted. I know I am. Definitely don't want to do this pregnancy thing again. I am done with 5. Hope all is continuing well. I've not got any major complaints about it... I just don't like it!!! At least i'm still getting SOME sleep at the moment though. Definately done at 4... heck we were done at 3! But any more and they won't fit in the house (good thing DH has had the snip! Off for his test after bubs arrival...). Re: MrsGreen's Build (WA) 471Jul 26, 2011 9:57 pm YAy for the snip. DH said he would get done but he was done after his DD was born and then undone when we got together...my turn I said. My doc agrees, he will already have too much scar tissue. BTW they said the reversal didn't work...now we are having number 5. I'm not taking any more risks on my body not supposed to be working! I'm supposed to have a hysterctomy (recurring cervical cancer)- but who has the time for that! Re: MrsGreen's Build (WA) 473Jul 27, 2011 1:40 pm Congrats on selling the house Mrs G Cant wait to see the new design. And also congrats on the new block of land. Where abouts did u end up buying. Have you had any nibbles on the other one. Not much longer to go with bubs. So exciting Re: MrsGreen's Build (WA) 474Jul 27, 2011 2:45 pm Picked up a block in South Beach.. hoping it was a good decision! (the designer seems to think we've done the right thing- change of suburbs). Had some interest in the other block but it seemed to have disappeared, haven't had an update for a while. A few more have come on the market recently which doesn't help. Hmmm, exciting, that's one way to put it LOL. Re: MrsGreen's Build (WA) 475Jul 27, 2011 2:57 pm Yep. I agree. South Beach is the way to go. What date are you due again. Its exciting but when it happens to me I'll be more scared then anything Re: MrsGreen's Build (WA) 476Jul 27, 2011 6:13 pm It is exciting first time around... but now I know how much harder work it is once they're on the outside LOL. Due mid Sept but expected to happen in about 3wks... i'll be induced in 5wks if it hasn't happened before then. Re: MrsGreen's Build (WA) 477Jul 27, 2011 9:18 pm It will all be over for you sooner than me. You go early, i go late RF Build: viewtopic.php?f=38&t=34534 Flooring: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=39733 Chat: viewtopic.php?f=36&t=53303 Re: MrsGreen's Build (WA) 478Jul 27, 2011 10:10 pm Yep lol... but DH won't be around if I go early either, the mine just keep throwing work at us!!! (catch 22- we want the money, but were planning to have a 2mo break after bubs arrival). I've had to organise a doula who is prepared to babysit or do whatever it takes for me over the birth and was willing to be on call for 6 weeks instead of the usual 2. I'll be induced around 38.5wks if I make it that far, depending on when DH can take a few days off. Right now trying to get taxes etc sorted before the big day (heck i've only just paid last months super for staff... this months is ready to be done tomorrow!)... bloody accountant is asking me for documents from ORIGINAL purchase of the property we just sold. Bloomin heck, as if i'd know where they are from 4 plus years ago (and 3 house moves ago)! See, I really don't have time to take out to give birth just yet. Re: MrsGreen's Build (WA) 479Jul 28, 2011 9:56 pm Just get a few stitches to help hold it in RF Build: viewtopic.php?f=38&t=34534 Flooring: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=39733 Chat: viewtopic.php?f=36&t=53303 Re: MrsGreen's Build (WA) 480Aug 04, 2011 2:00 am Settlement for the new block of land on the 11th- DHs birthday! Have paid a deposit with 2 different designers. We prefer one over the other, but the one we prefer seems to be slow and the other one is extremely prompt- so we're going to get initial sketches from both and then pick which we prefer based on design ideas that we can review on paper. Had an extremely busy week outside of house stuff, hence why i'm posting smack bang on midnight- JUST finished sending through some quotes I was asked to do today. I'm almost looking forward to labour just for the few hours break *yawn*. |
