Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 16, 2010 4:56 pm I have been stalking this forum for the past few months!! Now it's my turn to start my own thread! Yahoo!! Story so far - Building a slightly modified version of the 'Sorrento' through Dechellis Homes. Have done all our selections etc and have a start date which is in 4 days time (20/9/2010). Supposed finish date is late April 2011, but i'm not going to stress if it's longer because i'm sure it will be!! Have sold our home and settlement is in 3 weeks so got to start packing! We will be moving into my parents renatl property which is one street back form the beach @ Port Noarlunga YAY!! Probably won't want to move out! Haven't found anything stressful so far (apart from selling our house!) Have taken it all in my stride. I am in the renovation industry as a kitchen designer - so yes we will be doing all our own cabinetry in our new home. So i'll keep you all upto date as i go!! Hopefully you will enjoy this journey as much as I will... I've dreamt of doing this for so long!! Can't wait for our house to start!! Would love all feedback whether positive or constructive. This enables us to have more backyard. Increasing size of the buffett recess to suit our Thai Artwork we bought overseas a few years back (it's awesome) BUILDING WITH DECHELLIS HOMES BUILDING THREAD - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=38522 BUILDING START DATE 20/9/2010 Re: Modified Sorrento - Dechellis Homes 4Sep 16, 2010 8:42 pm hi shaesmum, I'm not building with them but I love your plans, the WIP is awesome, wish I'd got one like that now! Welcome (seems funny saying that given I only started my thread a week or so ago! We are building with Dechellis and although it started out a mixture of the Sorrento and Wild Orchid, its pretty much our own design. Have a look at our thread as I have just posted some photos of the pantry and kitchen! We are thinking of asking everyone to bring a can of food to our house warming party just to help fill it up! Its an exciting time building and we are pretty much on schedule to be completed within 6 months which was our contract date - baring any issues with delays in tiles which our fellow "threaders" have had! Cant wait to see your house progress. I think most people have been happy with the quality so far of their work. Good luck and I look forward to folowing your build. ------------------------------------------------------ Handover: 14 December 2010 Current: Putting in plants! What's your anticipated hand over date? I just can't wait for our to start... only 3 days to go (if they turn up!) However, the SS said that all the cupbards/kitchen should be done this week and tiling to commence the 1st week October. Our contract date is 11 November and he said we are on track. Surely you would think that tiling wouldn't take too long? Not sure what happens after tiling - perhpas painting! ------------------------------------------------------ Handover: 14 December 2010 Current: Putting in plants!
