Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 15, 2010 3:59 pm Hi, We are new to the forum and we are in the final stages of choosing a builder. We're deciding between Lifestyle Homes - The Lexington and Scott Park Homes - The Grand Bouvard. We love the quality of build and finish in the Lifestyle Homes but love the floorplan in the Scott Park perhaps a little more. We want to hear from anyone who is building or has built with either. Are you happy with end product? Process? Whatever else may be relevant? Aiming to make this decision soon. Thanks for anything you can offer to help in making this decision. Multigrain. Re: Builders - Lifestyle Homes or Scott Park? 2Sep 15, 2010 7:33 pm We were in the same situation, same builders different houses! We havn't build yet, still in paperwork. We found Lifestyle much more flexible when we wanted to do changes.... sometimes we found our SPH rep to be less enthusiastic about changing things.... But then again myabe they were just tired that day!!! Another thing was we found the specs of Lifestyle to be higher. But there seems to be a lot of people on here whom love SPH. Sorry, I hope that was helpful. ? They have better spec's than Lifestyle. I compared the Lifestyle Madison to the Grand Bouvard and the Scott Park Home was better spec'ed for the price. Remember spec can be changed. I found Scott Park Homes cheaper per sqm but a better spec. I also found that the Bouvard was certainly a one of s kind. I added a games room and Extended the Alfresco and I got it all for under $325,000. Also don't forget that Lifestyle Homes are Summit homes as well. Good Luck with your decision Re: Builders - Lifestyle Homes or Scott Park? 4Oct 16, 2010 10:53 pm We chose to build with SPH & haven't regretted it for a moment!! They seem to be a little slower than others but having spoken to tradies working on our house (who have worked for several other build companies who i will not name) they do extra things throughout the build that very few other companies do ie. flashing between top bricks to ensure no leakage (which could happen years down the track), much better waterproofing in wet areas that needs to cure/set for a few days (others are tiling next day!!:? ) & heavy duty beading to every internal wall corner & outer rendered corner to prevent chipping later on to name a few. Our SS has been great & very fussy how things are done (house build) & ensures standard is set very high with NO corners cut. At the end of the day we are building our dream home & have spent a substantial amount tweeking the plan to suit our needs/wants so we want it built to a high standard. We would recommend them in a heart beat!! Good luck with your decision...& your build journey!! Re: Builders - Lifestyle Homes or Scott Park? 9Oct 20, 2010 11:17 pm wow - thanks for all this guys. We did end up signing with lifestyle, we got a good deal on RC aircon and after we made quite a few changes over a couple of weeks, each time it took a couple of days for the Sales rep to email me the design. Unfortunatly we didn't get to this point with SPH. With them, we only intially turned the theatre into a games and that took a couple of weeks. I have seen people on here raving about SPH so maybe the design studio was just really busy when we were trying to get our designs through??? Also sometimes with SPH when we would suggest things we would get a negative response. Maybe we were overly sensitive but I just wanted to work with someone that said "Yes we can look at doing that for you, I'll get a costing" instead of hearing "ummm, yeah maybe. Probably be quite expensive" I can only imagine how hard it must be for these builders to keep on top of their tradies and their customer service, wouldn't like to be in their shoes..... oh except the CEO.. lol Building with Life$tyle Homes in Perth SOR Key Dates on First Page of my Thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=38761 Re: Builders - Lifestyle Homes or Scott Park? 11Oct 22, 2010 4:43 pm We built with the Summit group (2 out of 4 builds). Very happy and we dealt with Lifestyle as we are NOR. We had the best SS with only a few minor things to be fixed at PCI. CLO was great too. SPH were on our shortlist and we didn't go with them due to build time. We got keys while the SPH house down the road from us just had their roof timbers finished and they signed up the same time as us. If it weren't for that, *maybe* we might have built with them. Whichever way you go, both good builders in my opinion. I did ask our sales guy about bricks being delivered and then sitting there. He said he knows that can happen but hadn't heard it happening with any of his homes. ???
