Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 10, 2010 2:35 pm Hi All, Finally after months - (I'm not kidding, we've been at the planning stage since about Feb, switching homes mid-way through) we have our plans & will go to contract soon. This is our 3rd build and our dream home (hopefully!). We have 7 kids and currently renting a 3 bedroom, one bathroom so to say we cannot wait to get into our new place is a mammoth understatement. We are going with NBG and going for a contemporary, coastal look home as we are by the beach. There is no display for the home we have chosen so going in a little blind with what the house will look like, plus we have changed the plan a fair bit and also the facade. So.... got the plans back today, we are happy with them but will just need to tweak a little to put a small powder room or toilet at least under the stairs. Anyhow I am looking for opinions on the facade. Like it, however I am a little concerned with the ground floor and the window layout. Next to the garage is the front door, then a long window in the study, then a single french door in the main bedroom. Looking at the plan and then continually staring at it I feel like it's too many rectangles together . I know it will look quite different once the house is up especially since the main bedroom juts out so the study window/french door will not be as close as it looks on the plan, but still to make a mistake with the facade would be bad. Please tell me what you think....the house will be brick to the ground floor, timber cladding to the 1st (no render) if that helps with visualisation. facade [/IMG] Uploaded with ImageShack.us Re: Our home by the beach. Finally moving forward YAY! 2Sep 10, 2010 2:53 pm I like the look of the facade you have selected. It will be really nice. What colour were you thinking for the cladding upstairs? NO EXPECTATIONS, NO DISAPPOINTMENTS!
