Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 02, 2010 12:54 pm I thought I'd take a moment to show the world (!!) what we're doing, and hopefully meet a few people from the area along the way! We're building the Cove with Celebration in Aubin Gardens. A little cottage home which seems to be taking *forever* to get a started, though I'm told it'll all happen pretty quickly once we get started. At this stage we're waiting on shire to approve. There's been a bit of tooing and froing with the builder, and we've just realised that we also need to apply for development approval due to the size of the block, at 327m. Pre-start was all done months ago - so hopefully we'll get some colours and stuff up soon! If there's anyone else in Aubin Grove, or going through the same process, feel free to drop us a line and say hi- we'd love to meet you! Our application went in October, and we're still waiting. But we had a few issues related to site coverage and 'allocation' of outdoor space, so hopefully yours will be a whole lot quicker. We're also in Aubin Gardens -across the road from the park closest to the new stage that's just been completed. If you guys are waiting for titles, then I guess you're up there? Please call and give them a bit of pressure. Thats what i did after i realised that its taking too long. I called 2 times and we got it within a week after I made those calls. We signed up for the land in Nov 08 - got our titles in April 09. We did our prestart early March 09. We had some delays in between with the builder (preparing our contract). After that we submitted our plans to the shire in June09. and got our building license early September09. I think some builders submit the plans early ..for someone reason ours didnt submit until they knew we had the titles, and then they prepared our contract. Maybe we are neighbours I just called about the titles, they said that mine are due by end of feb (im stage 9) G_girl thats a good point, I dont think i could handle much more waiting really. im so impatient I think my builders already submitted my plans because I was not allowed to make anymore structural changes at pre-start and just choose all the pretty colours, everything for the builder, bank and my copy was signed. Maybe im just dreaming? Maybe im just dreaming? Hey Shon I just looked, nope your Building Licence application hasn't been submitted. You are not supposed to make any structural changes at pre-start. You can chnage other things like vanity length and all that shiz. Probably a long wait ahead still Built with New Generation (Summit Homes) We own land!... with a slab on it! We are building in Aubin Gardens - stage 9 too! Lot 438 - Descanso Loop! can't wait for the titles to be released... we are still undecided on which house to put on.. it's a choice between a SPH - Floreat (heavily modified) or a Summit - Quay Resort.... My thread has been deleted... Re: Jas and Nat's excellent adventure - Aubin Grove, WA 10Feb 03, 2010 8:12 pm Go the Quay Resort hehe i'm biased. I like how it has a corner spa in the ensuite, and the layout seems nicer than the Floreat Built with New Generation (Summit Homes) We own land!... with a slab on it! Plus a shell of a house with stuff inside ! Re: Jas and Nat's excellent adventure - Aubin Grove, WA 11Feb 03, 2010 8:36 pm mmm OK. Have spoken to the builder on several occasions today, trying to ascertain where we're at with the building license. Because of the size of the block, we're also required to have design approval, which it appears the builder wasn't aware of. Even once we'd signed the forms, it appears to have been lost between the builder and the shire. Building license approval isnt granted until the planning side of things is sorted. So - still another 6 weeks to go apparently, which takes us up to 6 months since the contract was signed. The builder now has the audacity that we 'should probably discuss the possibility of price increases tomorrow', as we're way out of our 'price fix' period. The only reason we're out of the period is because shire sat on the app for several months (not the staffs fault - they're just doing their job), and the builder farted around with gathering the information that was required. We have another discussion on the matter tomorrow. I'll keep you posted! I like how it has a corner spa in the ensuite, and the layout seems nicer than the Floreat Candylea... actually the one thing we don't like with the Quay Resort is the corner spa... the sales consultant has suggested a blade wall with the shower and w/c behind this and removal of the corner spa... catching up with him on Wednesday night for costings. I love the name of your suburb, I had to look it up to know where it was! As it turns out, I have a very close friend who lives just 5 mins down Rowley Road from you - so I've been past your little corner of paradise a few times! Best of luck for a speedy red-tape process, it's such a difficult wait but stay positive and make sure you soak up all the excellent ideas floating around H1. There are lots of picture/idea threads to be found which will get your creative juices flowing. Looking forward to following your build! Re: Jas and Nat's excellent adventure - Aubin Grove, WA 16Feb 07, 2010 5:10 pm Thanks Vundaful! The ball is rolling again. Hopefully we'll have some news in the next week or so on how the planning application is going with shire. I've just had a look at where Helena Valley is on the map - very nice! If you're ever needing to get to the airport in a hurry it shouldn't take too long? Jas. Re: Jas and Nat's excellent adventure - Aubin Grove, WA 18Feb 08, 2010 12:27 pm Hi Mr Jas. Thought i would say hello. Me and my partner are also building in Aubin Gardens, Stage 10, lot 400 descanso loop. Just waiting for titles to be released, orginally feb, then march, then pushed to april, now they reckon june actually its better for us as it means more time to save for our deposit. Choosing the right house has been a rollercoaster. orginally we were set to go with celebrations and build the regal, then we were lured to the floreat from scott park homes. after a bad experience with the sales consultant. the design had its flaws so we wanted to change some things and it seemed he had no idea on going about doing so. Dissapointed, we decided to look at other options and we were suprised to find a great design with new generation homes by summit, not only practical, huge and a great design, but packed with features that were standard and didnt require expensive upgrades as the floreat required. you can check my thread for progress. we are still at initial stages of modifying the house and waiting for our consultant to update us on costs etc. Hope you guys have pleasant build and will be checking your progress Re: Jas and Nat's excellent adventure - Aubin Grove, WA 19Feb 08, 2010 3:24 pm Hey Wrexter, Have you not signed your contract yet?
