Hope they've sorted out the little stuff up in your slab. We're also going to be building at Arena, but due to all the rain, our land won't title now until April. Would love to follow your build. mimi Re: Clarendon Roeberry in Arena - We've been framed! 25Feb 14, 2011 10:25 am Thanks everyone!! We were pretty wrapped with the progress so far, then when we visited on Saturday afternoon we found our roof and blue foil walls - then we were really wrapped!! A few minor issues, like a window that wont fit, a missing wall and still a hole in the slab where the bath should be. But all things that can be fixed, trying so hard not the stress the little stuff. I come from a long line of home builders (rather than buyers of established houses) so I am bracing for a real disaster further down the track - my parent place had the front ripped off and re-framed and bricked weeks before handover because the floor tiler relised the angles were all wrong and his tiles wouldnt fit according to the plans!! Mimi - a fellow arena-ite!! so exciting! I have been lurking for ages waiting for a neighbour to pop up. Our stage was delayed too, i think that is becoming the norm. We were meant to title in October, the progress was ahead of schedule the whole way, then a service plan went missing at the last moment and we were delayed until December! Not to worry, once it starts it just flies!! Today is the one month anniversary since our site start date and we are due to have bricks on site tomorrow! Good luck with all your builds guys - I will be watching with great interest!! Re: Clarendon Roeberry in Arena - We've been framed! 26Feb 14, 2011 11:04 am @Arena537, Happy Anniversary to you. You must be so excited looking at the progress. Mine doesn't settle until late March..still a bit of wait. But like you said, once it starts , it just flies. Good Luck with your build!! Re: Our Roeberry in Arena - Oh sorry we asked!! 27Feb 23, 2011 11:31 am So things are powering along down in Officer! we have a half bricked house with a roof, plumbing and electrical rough ins and its full of heating and cooling worms. plaster and cornices (and the bath!) were delivered last week and we are expecting lock up next week. and its only week 5! cant quite belive how fast its all going. got a bit of a rude shock this morning when a brief list of errors was emailed to the SS, only to be greeted with anything but appreciation! we had noted missing powerpoints, noggins and an over packed window frame along with a few other items we had raised previously on a visit to the site last night. we decided, rather than ring the SS we would send an email, prefaced with a statement that some items had been discussed and we understood were waiting on trades, but we thought it best to provide a summary now before fixing begins. These items were things that could be fixed now while the trades were still on site - saving time and resources further down the track! turns out thats not how things are done!! SS was quite displeased with our summary and has requested no more, despite him having suggested we advise him of anything we feel is incorrect since (his words) we know the house better than any of his tradesmen! This is also only our second contact with him and first email in 5 weeks, so we are hardly pestering clients! Hopefully we have caught him on a bad day, otherwise we have been served with the Jenkyl and Hyde of site supervisors! Very different fromthe easy going bloke we last dealt with 2 weeks ago!! Re: Our Roeberry in Arena - Oh sorry we asked!! 28Feb 23, 2011 12:03 pm Forward the response to one of his supervisor and then email him saying you won't put up with such crap. If they don't pull him up for it take it further. You're paying a lot of money and shouldn't have to put up with such nonsense. P.S If it were me I'd hit him with a 4x2 but I know most don't like to use violence, at least not this early in the argument. Re: Our Roeberry in Arena - Oh sorry we asked!! 29Feb 23, 2011 12:51 pm I say go with violence!! Oh you poor thing, all I could think of when reading your post was, how dare he! Well, that and.... refer him to me.... ..... Your paying a lot of money and his attitude is totally unacceptable. I think I would ask him if you need to forward his reply to his manager or if you can move forward from here and work together, so he can just get the job done to your satisfaction. Make it clear your not going to put up with his crap! Re: Our Roeberry in Arena - Oh sorry we asked!! 30Feb 23, 2011 2:00 pm Our lovely SS actually threatened to lock us out of the site if we were to contact him in this way again. I guess he just doesnt like anyone questioning his work!! I guess im just very lucky to have a wonderful boyfriend handling this, he was able to calm the SS down and we've got a meeting on site one morning next week to battle this out in person! Thanks for your kind words guys - violence was looking like a very viable option this morning!! Re: Our Roeberry in Arena - Oh sorry we asked!! 32Feb 23, 2011 2:19 pm The aforementioned wonderful boyfriend has handled all the nasty stuff for me! I havent had to deal with banks or CSCs or anything, just colours and appliances and my beloved home one!! So building has been a bit of a dream so far!! We are easy to spot, ours is the black roof (haha aren't they all!?) on the hill with the giant sky light in the front where the roof tiles wont fit because the portico is wrong!! Re: Our Roeberry in Arena - Oh sorry we asked!! 33Mar 23, 2011 11:50 am Let me know if you choose a render colour as I have the same colours as you but am stuck for a render colour that will go with homestead tan bricks, monument gutters, garage door etc, and dune render. We havent chosen a colour, but here is a pic of our facade with our colours, I think the light sand colour (dune i imagine) goes quite well! SS called last week to confirm that the kitchen was being delivered and installed, will take pics tonight. last week we had all the plastering completed, cornice was due to be installed monday, then architraves and skirts, before the painter arrives before the end of the month. so far our builders have kept up the momentum right from slab pour on Feb 1st. We haven't been up there for a while, land won't settle now until mid April, so not much to look at at the moment, although it might be worth a drive to stalk your build... Until then I'll be here waiting for kitchen pics......... Re: Our Roeberry in Arena - Oh sorry we asked!! 36Mar 25, 2011 9:35 am Yes, I do have great taste. Bahahahahahahaha We have got Dune cement sheets and it looks great with everything, so we are going with Dune render at the front section the looking for a darker greyish colour render to go next to that. We will soon be starting our build with them and your words give a bit of confidence about the builder. Have been hearing and reading a lot of 'things gone pear-shaped' stories lately. pls keep us posted with those pics 1 13125 9 24793 This is one of the reasons I decided to go overseas for my double glazed windows. As the builder indicated, he's worked on many upmarket builds, these were the most well… 13 19241 |
