We are also thinking of boxing in the range hood and adding a mantle type shelf
Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 22, 2011 10:38 am Hi I could do with some help with the range hood side of the kitchen, do I move the range hood to centre with the wall near the window or leave it as it is, it is currently centred with the cupboards.......does that make any sense to anyone? ![]() Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ any feedback would be greatly appreciated ![]() ![]() We are also thinking of boxing in the range hood and adding a mantle type shelf Re: What do you think, change it or leave it ? 2Nov 22, 2011 10:50 am i would probably leave it myself as it looks ok on the plans. But having said that im not too good at visualising it in real life from a drawing ![]() What do you think, change it or leave it ? 3Nov 22, 2011 11:00 am I'd keep it centered with the cupboards, another option is to get one of those ranges that's In the cupboard so then ur overheads go right along!! Another suggestion would be to have a double bowl sink without the drainers, it takes up a lot of your bench space and pretty bench looks better than stainless in my opinion ![]() Building our own custom design with Redink Pre-start - 28/06/2011 Building license approval - sept 2011 Footings - 8/10/2011 my thread - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=48921 Re: What do you think, change it or leave it ? 4Nov 22, 2011 11:13 am Hi GardenofNeedn-58 (love your name) I have the same problem, if you look at it from the bench top cupboard height it is perfect but if you only look at the top cupboards it is off centre. This is where a display home would help. Hi Leona, yes your right, i think the boxing it in will help balance it. I would love the look of double bowl without drainers especially with the black granite top but i actually got them to put the double sink with double drainers in because i think they are better for the life of the benches and control of water around the sink....torn between the 2 ideas ![]() ![]() Re: What do you think, change it or leave it ? 5Nov 24, 2011 12:58 am Definitely leave the rangehood/oven as is - it would not look right if you move it along, it's best to have the oven centred in the bottom cupboards. (If it makes you feel more at ease, I've conducted prestarts for years and have seen enough display homes to last a lifetime, and have never seen a client/display home move the rangehood/oven along a bench in that situation ![]() Personally if it was me I'd also reduce the size of the sink for aesthetic reasons, but it all comes down to what you find practical. If you have a dishwasher the sink isn't required much at all, so you wouldn't really need draining areas... but if you aren't planning on having a dishwasher or you don't use one much, the double drainer may suit you better ![]() Re: What do you think, change it or leave it ? 6Nov 24, 2011 12:38 pm Wow thank you ca3105 I never would have picked up the different size in the overhead cupboards and thank you also for your advise on the centering the oven rangehood ![]() I bake a lot and use a lot of baking pans for dinner, they take up a lot of room at the sink, I love my dishwasher and would never go without one ![]() ![]() Re: What do you think, change it or leave it ? 7Nov 24, 2011 7:23 pm ![]() Wow thank you ca3105 I never would have picked up the different size in the overhead cupboards and thank you also for your advise on the centering the oven rangehood ![]() I bake a lot and use a lot of baking pans for dinner, they take up a lot of room at the sink, I love my dishwasher and would never go without one ![]() ![]() No problem, your prestarter probably would've (or should've) pointed it out when you get to prestart but it always helps to look at it before then ![]() A farmer in the house, say no more ![]() ![]() 5 11429 ![]() 2 3176 Bought in Nov 21 at the height of the market (classic).
