Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 04, 2010 10:33 pm After few months it is my turn to start my own building thread. Our land finally has been titled. The problem is that it was a package so when we purchased land we signed building contract as well with quite small builder. From the very beginning the building contract and drawing were full of mistakes. Invoices always were incorrect sometimes included items that we never ordered. Also they are very poor in communication. Finally before starting constructions builder sent documents to bank and when I went thorough these documents I was bad surprised again: the builder CPD certificate has been expired. The Building permit has commencing construction day the YEAR after now, the certificate of currency will expired in the next months the work cover Insurance police has been expired three months ago and in the 100 th time my surname was spelled incorrectly. So lack of professionalism over and over again. I really concerned to go ahead with them. Can I go away now when our land has been settled? As we paid only 5% for the constriction I even don’t mind to loose deposit money. Any advice? Re: Our Building Thread – Bad experience with builder. 2Sep 04, 2010 10:43 pm Sorry to hear about your experiences. If the builder is so bad, why not get al your money back? Demolition August 2009, Construction Started September 2009, Completed December 2010 Re: Our Building Thread – Bad experience with builder. 3Sep 04, 2010 11:01 pm Sorry to hear about you bad start. Spend the money and seek legal advice, there may be a way of keeping your land and using a different builder, would be concerned if problems have started before the build has even commenced and being a small builder is not an excuse, we used a small builder and all details on the contract were correct.
