Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 04, 2010 7:08 pm Hi everyone well I am finally starting my own thread, Im building with Switch homes we are all locked up. Putting up my floorplan hope it works. Roof - colourbond Ironstone Whole of house rendered front colour of cinema room taubmans distance and the rest of house colourbond dune Gutters - Ironstone Fascia- Ironstone Downpipes to match render colours Feature tiling on left side on front entrance wall in black and grey patterned 300x600 porcelain rectified tile Dowell Anotec Silver window frames Cedar garage door and Front door So hopefully it all comes together at the end and looks good. The tiling is almost complete waiting for benchtop in ensuite to finish off in there. Full height tiling in all toilets, bathrooms and the laundry looks really good. Outside painting should commence this week, paving has been organised but they have to do soakwells first. Then I suppose the fit out of plumbing etc and electrical. All going well maybe pci in early october. We began our journey july last year had prestart in nov, slabbed on the 14/3/10 been locked up about 5 weeks. I drove past on the weekend - it's looking great. Tell me, why did you end up rendering the whole of the house? Were you not happy with your bricks. Gosh didn't realise you had cabinets in and tiling being done. Love your front door - but I'm biassed cause we've got the same one with matching sidelight. The Corinthian Madisson? Looking forward to following the rest of your thread - with photos of the inside as it progresses. We've got the plasterer starting this week - so exciting. I have heaps of photos only just learnt via ds how to post. Yeah we werent happy with the bricks in quite a few areas and the builder and us came to an agreement to keep us all happy. Things are moving along, to all you new home builders out there make sure you check onsite all the time too make sure you get what you have requested on your contract we are going with R4 insulation and R3.5 was delivered would have been none the wiser had we not have seen it, there have been other things earlier in the piece, so you just have to check things out all the time. Overall we are very happy with our home and look forward to the completion. Our builder is doing all the lighting, security screens and doors, brick paving around the house as well. Im suprised yor roof isnt finished yet the way they were going along jbarry, still our house was like that things suddenly happened and then nothing for ages. Re: Kazzbah61 switch home 6Sep 08, 2010 9:50 pm yay kazzbah61 - your house is amazing they sure finish it off nicely - the whole reason we signed on with Switch - we're just waiting for the colourbond to arrive for install Follow Feggle viewtopic.php?f=31&t=34992 Follow lilfeggle viewtopic.php?f=31&t=37149 Asbestosis Sux! I notice your place has now been fully rendered. How far away from PCI are you - you must be close, or have you run into some problems (hope not)? We paid extra for "shadowline cornice" so fingers crossed that one will be correct Follow Feggle viewtopic.php?f=31&t=34992 Follow lilfeggle viewtopic.php?f=31&t=37149 Asbestosis Sux! We got rather annoyed with them that only 4 days work was done for all of sept so jumped up and down to GM about our dissappointment and CM now handling build in the interim so things finally happening. Shower screens in, hotplate installed, insulation in, stormwater done and finally the painters arrived yesterday to paint outside said they should be finished by the end of next week. DH went there yesterday and the painter was parked in the garage he was not happy, calling past after work this morning and will tell him not to park in there. We are working on the end of Oct still and have told them this as we have people organised for internal painting then floor then carpets and curtains and most definately airconditioning all well before xmas. JBarry saw a few cars at your house 2 weekends back and your dh and dd in the back yard no sign of you as I would have called out even though I dont know what you look like. Your house looks really lovely you must be very happy I even spied my house in the background of the whiteset photos of yours haha. I will take a walk over and check yours out internally before you get locked up if okay. I told our builder how there are a lot of houses around me that are nearly at the same level of build as me and they started in june. Great lilfeggle that you spotted windows unusual that the had glass already in them mine was installed later. Your house looks huge lilfeggle and very nice too, Our block was not big enough for a lot of there plans so settled on ours due to fitting straight on block without any changes. I hope you are hiring a cleaner for that monster. Cheers guys Re: Kazzbah61 switch home 11Oct 08, 2010 9:19 am thanks kazzbah61 ! Don't breath in Asbestos Re: Kazzbah61 switch home 14Nov 08, 2010 9:39 am I have the smokey sapelle in the laundry really looks nice with plain white tiles to ceiling and morning shale benchtop. I went looking at some new villas yesterday and they had some really nice colour boards put together, then that gets me thinking all over again about my choices. But it is good to know there are a lot of other people out there that have chosen same colours as me on things. I went with neutral colours on tiles and fairly plain because of full height tiling as have to live with it for a long time. Your house is going to look amazing when it is finished I'm sure all of your colours are great. Yes hopefully pci early next week, starting to get excited about build again. Spent a small fortune on curtains they will go in on the 17/12. I have booked the aircon and heating people in for the 23/11 so the house had better be ready. Re: Kazzbah61 switch home 15Nov 08, 2010 9:58 am Wow its looking gorgeous kazzbah! We are having smokey sapelle in the bathroom, so you obviously have exceptional taste! my new build thread- Ben Trager https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=89826 my switch build thread (2011) https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=36569 Re: Kazzbah61 switch home 16Nov 08, 2010 10:02 am it gets so busy when you get hand over, with organising flooring, window furnishings, aircon, painting, landscaping ..... we're doing our own paving to driveway and enterance using limestone 400x400, then the pool is going in the front yard, aranging limestone wall to front, aircon, we're going with double rollers to our windows, tiles and carpets.... we chose the neutral colours too - trying to act our age and not go so funky this time but we can all use the useless accessories for colour Follow Feggle viewtopic.php?f=31&t=34992 Follow lilfeggle viewtopic.php?f=31&t=37149 Asbestosis Sux! Don't breath in Asbestos Re: Kazzbah61 switch home 17Nov 08, 2010 10:53 am No point in worrying about my age now, glad you liked my funky blade wall wanted something different we were going to have a portico entrance with the first house we picked, glad we didnt go with that look as 4 houses after us have portico entrances, I do like them though. Have finally reached the stage in our lives where we can have what we want in this house, but in saying that don't want to over capitalise either. Hopefully spend no more than $50k to finish it off with everything including fake lawn, was thinking of a lap pool at one stage but changed our minds as children are grown up so wouldn't get a lot of use for the cost of putting one in, decided to get a couple of new cars instead. Are you down mandurah way lilfeggles? Glad you like colours tinkster this was my dream kitchen when I chose everything, dishwasher still to be installed and it has cupboard door on it as it is fully integrated, probably the only thing I should have done was put silver kickpanel around bottom of cupboards, can do later on if necessary. Was going to go with tiles throughout the house but we have that now and I want something different so are going with timber laminate in spotted gum colour, it is light in colour with greys and brown through it but not to busy to clash with kitchen it is very much the same pattern. See how we like it and can always change later on down the track as not a huge expense. Was going to go with 600x600 rectified tiles but if it is not layed properly it will annoy me if out in places. Have organised everything just have to have handover before the 23/11 and we shall make the xmas deadline. Move in that weekend properly. Leave DS here to look after this house until we end up putting it on the market and selling. Re: Kazzbah61 switch home 18Nov 08, 2010 11:13 am that's the key, don't over capitalise... yeah we're in Secret Harbour.. we were thinking of getting the "sw1tch's together for a bbq from here to have a catch up in person ... or is that just weird?
