Re: Bicko’s Rothwell - We're in... and im knackered!!!! 364Dec 20, 2010 11:16 am I sure can get some pics for ya We actually made the WIR larger moving it into the hall more by taking out the waster space. We also got the hanging rail installed at 1850mm instead of the standard 1650mm. this gave just enough room to put another rail underneath. if i did it again, i would put the upper rail at 2m. The shed. im pretty sure you're supposed to get a permit for anything larger than a 10m2. im planning on building a 3 x 9m shed so will definitely need a permit... see what happens. I didn't analyse it too closely, so looks good to me! How's all the acid treatment going? <--that sounds a bit scary! Thanks mate. im now glad we chose the colour. Peppercorn. The Hydrochloric acid did the trick and removed the patchiness. it basically etched the top layer off the concrete. lucky i used coloured concrete instead of adding the colour to the top. We'll give it another hit with the acid after the break then seal it. You should say hello next time you come past mel_mox Congratulations biko Great Xmas pressie for u to finally be in your house. Mine looks very messy, and I would love to see what you've done... Hi Shelly, sorry to take so long with gettin a pic online. It was really hard to get a good pic showing the WIR. the pic actually makes it look really small. anyway, seems to use the space quite well. extra rail under upper rail Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ IKEA cupboard with shoe rack, draws, and trouser rails. Still need to change things around in this. but again it's a good use of space. I screwed a 100mm white board strip to the wall the so on.... Easy Re: Bicko’s Rothwell - all unpacked. The work starts - Decki 373Dec 24, 2010 10:10 pm Very busy two days. Now that I’m off work, I have to rip into getting a few things done around the house. First stop is the front decking that will run from the front door towards the road. Yesterday was basically spent at bunnings getting all of the materials, setting out the deck and drilling a few stump holes. Today i had a few more holes to drill. on of the holes was smack bang right on the centre of the recycled water main. it was a pain in the ar$e, but got it sorted and out of the way. set all the stumps, put up the bearers and got most of the joists up. The section under the porch is really fiddly. It even more fiddly as I’m putting a 140mm wide boarder around the entire deck. it should look pretty sweet once finished. I was hoping to have it all finished by tonight. Took a bit longer than expected. I usually have my old man helping with these type of things, but he's an hour away now... One of the reasons why i went so far forward was to cover the stupid water meters Not too sure what the deck will be used for yet. I’m maybe a bit of late night dancing The hardest of the work is done now. it will all be finished on boxing day Pics Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Merry Christmas everyone Re: Bicko’s Rothwell - all unpacked. The work starts - Decking 379Jan 01, 2011 9:34 pm The deck is finally finished. Well the front deck!!! I did the final touches yesterday in the bloody heat and wind. Lost 2.5kg yesterday alone... It took way longer than expected. Working by yourself definitely makes a job like this take longer, but anyway it’s done. The little hatch over the water meters came up a treat. Maybe a little too good? You can't tell that there is an opening... i think i'll have to put a sign of some sort for the meter readers. Don’t want them to estimate our usage... So now i have to do some sort of garden around all sides of the deck. spread some topsoil and plant the covenant tree LOL Next project is the alfresco deck which is bigger but more straight forward. The area under the porch was very fiddly, especially with the border... it would also help if the house was built square...
