Time for some hard work : 342Dec 14, 2010 7:57 am Thanks guys. all went well. we had perfect weather which made life so much easier. Pretty knackered now though. got to sleep around 2am. Funny thing did happen... well not at the time... At around 7pm we thought it was time to do a Bunnings run and get a few things. got to Bunnings and realised that we did not have a set of keys to get back in the house... Not good!!! lucky i had my garage door remote and could get to my ladder. lifted a few tiles and got in through the MH. It was a fair task. it's bloody tight fitting through the battens. Even for a not so big guy... It took about an hour and a half and we were back at bunnings... Final inspection went well. again no dramas. We had a few minor things left to do. Final coat of render, front lights (on render) and fixing up a bit of mortar. The render started yesterday and we're really happy with the colour. no more bright white facade. I also had a mate start to work on my driveway. It should be poured tomorrow depending on weather. once that’s in, i hope to start the fun process of landscaping Re: Bicko’s Rothwell - We're in... Time for some hard work : 343Dec 14, 2010 8:09 am congrats BrICKO!!! I always get so jealous when people are moving in... I WANT THAT TO BE MEEEEE! Lol. Time for some hard work : 344Dec 14, 2010 9:47 am OMG! I drove past at around 7 and saw you(?) on a ladder doing something to the roof! OH NO!! Breaking into your own house I'm sure you can laugh now!! Would have stopped but you looked very busy, obviously. Time for some hard work : 346Dec 14, 2010 2:28 pm thanks guys. we couldn't be any happier. Except for the bug that hang around. during the build the number of mozzies around the place was crazy!!! anyone else think the same? Last night’s drama was pretty funny. ah well, it can’t happen again cos i have the keys on the key ring now lol... Our drive way should be poured tomorrow. we have gone a bit different to the normal black colour. Peppercorn is the choice. let’s see how it goes Re: Bicko’s Rothwell - We're in... Time for some hard work : 347Dec 14, 2010 3:11 pm I think mozzies are pretty bad everywhere at the moment. Lots of water hanging around can't be helping. Glad you managed to get yourself back in again without dramas. Is peppercorn like colour above your garage door or something different again. Called into our place a little while ago with a slab for the painters. Missed the bricklayer so will have to catch up with him another time. The painting is looking fantastic and soooooooooo happy with the colours. Re: Bicko’s Rothwell - We're in... Time for some hard work : 348Dec 14, 2010 6:24 pm Oh yeah - Mozzie's - the night before our handover our flywire door was stolen from our laundry door - I was shattered as I got the fly wire door on there so I could use the drier (before we get our concrete) and not fog the room up... so a couple of nights ago I had to leave the sliding door open to use the drier... stupid me forgot to turn the light off... so when i went back in there the room was FULL of mozzies and moths and all other bugs hanging around the light... I practically emptied a can of fly spray in there!!! YAY for drive way... our preferred concreter is busy right up until Christmas... so we're waiting for him Sleven Moved into our Atlantique MkII 36 by Carlisle Homes Re: Bicko’s Rothwell - We're in... Our drive way should be poured tomorrow. we have gone a bit different to the normal black colour. Peppercorn is the choice. let’s see how it goes Like the render colours! And Driveway looks good too! The house has come together really well! If you have the keys on the key ring, you could end up doing what my BF did on his first morning back at work! We'd had the driveway and portico concreted, so could only exit the house by going out the garage, and walking along what will one day, be a garden bed... He locked the garage door behind him, realising that he had left his set of car keys hanging on the hook in the kitchen. Only problem was, he also had 4 sets of the front door key also on that one set of keys. And no way of getting back inside! Of course, I was extremely sympathetic when he rang and told me I think I ended up with tears running down my cheeks! Let's just say that he figured out how the public transport system now works, and arrived at work only 2 hours late! Re: Bicko’s Rothwell - We're in... Time for some hard work : 351Dec 16, 2010 10:09 am ShelleyB Like the render colours! And Driveway looks good too! The house has come together really well! Bugger! We meant to do a driveby last night but got distracted after meeting up with the Sizzes and just left from there. Will admire it next time we are there. Re: Bicko’s Rothwell - We're in... and im knackered!!!! 352Dec 16, 2010 3:21 pm Hey, sorry guys. it has been a long and very busy few days. have been up to around 2 each night doing stuff then getting up at 6 for work Our driveway went in yesterday. all good except for the BLOODY rain which stuffed the finish right up. it looks real patchy. i was even on the tools to try and save it. This morning it looked even worst. Solution... hydrochloric acid to etch the top of the concrete. this will cut away the patchiness but leave it looking dry. ill let it cure over the break, give it another hit with acid then seal it. should come up a treat...Fingers crossed... I’m actually glad to be sleeping in my own bed. no more sore backs!!! we still have boxes everywhere but hey it’s nice to be in. We got our new fridge on Tuesday. it’s a ripper. cost a bit, but definitely looks the part even the handles match the cupboard handles. I plan to start decking the porch area before Christmas and do a bit of landscaping. i pretty sure i have my mind set on what i want to do now Whatever i do costs $$$ Speaking of dollars, we got a quote from dollar blinds for our house. initial in shop quotes were around 10k but the girl came out and got it down to around 6k. we have a few mainly holland’s, romans and a few double Holland’s... I’ll get another quote to compare. Last night we got rid of some cash at IKEA. bought a wardrobe flat pack to add in the WIR. we got all the tricks for it. shoe holders, baskets, trouser holders etc. it was a mongrel to put together but I got there in the end.. Shame about the bl00dy green fences I hate them with a passion. We are going to order a couple of blinds from Blinds Warehouse to see what they are like. We got a couple of sample swatches and can't decide which would look best as they both look good and seem to match the colour scheme. So we're ordering one colour for bedroom 2 and the other for bedroom 3. It's these in Dune & Pepper http://www.blindswarehouse.com.au/p-730 ... elsea.aspx Re: Bicko’s Rothwell - We're in... and im knackered!!!! 354Dec 17, 2010 6:53 am bicko123 Speaking of dollars, we got a quote from dollar blinds for our house. initial in shop quotes were around 10k but the girl came out and got it down to around 6k. we have a few mainly holland’s, romans and a few double Holland’s... Ah IKEA.. got to love the little instruction booklets, I finished ours off the other day finally, looks pretty good now it's all set up. Their stuff is actually really well thought out I reckon, considering if you wanted that sort of innovation in a ready-made deal you'd be paying thousands and need a semi to transport it. The good thing about them is that there is no argument with your neighbour about fence types and colours... Ill plant things along the fence to try and screen it a bit. We're still miles away from getting everything unpacked. i thill have no idea where all my TV leads are. That means no tv since Sunday night. Surprisingly it has been nice. I’m sure I’m not missing out We gave the driveway a acid bath yesterday and it has taken out most of the patchiness. so pretty happy with that. it looks dry or faded at the moment but a sealer will bring it back to life... The electrical guys were also back yesterday to fit the portico lights. this is the result... love em Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Bicko’s Rothwell - We're in... and im knackered!!!! 356Dec 17, 2010 8:57 am The lights look great I ran into the electrician when they were doing the rough in and I've arranged for him to put a downlight in the eave over each portico post which hopefully will achieve a similar result. Probably not quite as spectacular as yours though. The two downlights and an exhaust fan in the laundry cost $170 which I thought was a real bargain. Re: Bicko’s Rothwell - We're in... and im knackered!!!! 357Dec 17, 2010 10:36 am It all looks AMAZING!! You've done really well Bicko! I love those lights! Re: Bicko’s Rothwell - We're in... and im knackered!!!! 360Dec 20, 2010 8:31 am Been in a week and still unpacking. we're getting there though. it’s all coming together. I really didn't realise how much stuff I had in storage!!! We have done a few trips to IKEA now. Last night we got a chest of draws and two matching bed side tables. Yep I was up all night putting the chest together. It’s pretty neat and has increased storage... In the WIR in have also added a 2nd hanging rail and the other IKEA wardrobe. it actually all looks pretty neat We still haven't got the OPENnetworks stuff finished yet. so no TV till i did a trip to bunnings and bought a cheap set of ears so i could watch the cricket Go Aussies What’s next??? - I just sent through my blinds quote through to my bank so they can release the funds from the loan. Hope to put order through today for a mid Jan delivery - I have also measured up my deck areas and need to do a materials estimate (again for bank) so I can get the money. I hope to start decking the front area before xmas. - early Jan ill try and get a building permit in for my shed. so hope to get that up by early Feb. see how that goes...
