Re: Bicko’s Rothwell in Devonia Park - PCI booked 7th dec 303Nov 27, 2010 7:45 pm ShelleyB Love the splashback and your front door too! Not long to go We had our site clean the day of PCI, and Carlisle don't seal the tiles (maybe you've organised it with them though) ... yeah ill have to look into sealing the tiles. when we were doing the colour selection they gave us a few brochures for a tile sealing product. ill give it a go myself. anyone know of a good product? apparently the house cleaner will be there during our PCI as i asked it to be an hour earlier. i wasn't too worried about that will have to check up when the site clean is. i got the shovel out the other day picking out all the clumps of concrete to make sure they get it all So Shelley. how did your PCI go? Re: Bicko’s Rothwell in Devonia Park - PCI booked 7th dec 304Nov 27, 2010 8:44 pm Speaking of the splash back. this was one of the items that got changed about 4 times after colour selection. we started off with starfire orange. we then thought that this was way too much on the eye and would look really silly in two years time. next we chose Oriental spice, then ended up with Red Box. we are very happy with the final colour selection!!! the other thing we changed a few times was the render colours. this is yet to come to light on the house as yet. only time will tell if i like it Re: Bicko’s Rothwell in Devonia Park - PCI booked 7th dec 305Nov 28, 2010 8:12 pm Hi Bicko, PCI went well- few minor things - incorrect outside light fittings, endless paint touch ups, all the norm really. We were originally told that keys should be ready for pick up on the 3rd or the 6th, and I think our SS is aiming for the 3rd. However, I have a feeling that we won't make either of those dates Our termite treatment wasn't complete down one side of the house due to the excessive moisture between our's and our neighbour's house. And since we've had a fair amount of rain recently, and our clay soil was already heavily water-logged before the rain, I don't think our Certificate of Occupancy will be issued soon... They also needed to re-level our portico, as everytime it does rain, it ends up filling with water. So unless Carlisle can perform miracles with the weather, I don't know when our handover will be... My partner is also looking into the fibre connections - he thinks that they've installed the incorrect hub, and terminated it incorrectly. So I've booked holidays starting this Friday and all of the following week, so fingers crossed I find out sooner, rather than later about a definite handover date! You must be getting excited too! Has the countdown started for your own PCI? Has the countdown started for your own PCI? Ok i need to check this one out. we have wires hangin out of the wall below the meter box. a box inside the garage with more wires and a conduit with a draw string. i assuming another box gets installed under the meter box to house the wires. lol i have no clue. i might have to ask the question in the Carlisle thread. I hope Carlisle get everything sorted for ya before you go away. or would it be better for them to push it back to when you return from your holiday. it might be better off for you guys as the house will be a sitting duck waiting to get broken into with no one around just a thought... Out PCI is next Tuesday. so yes there is a countdown started. not that we're counting they're only a few minor issues that need sortin. few paint touch-ups (this is happening before PCI anyway), scratches and thats about it. Very happy Re: Bicko’s Rothwell in Devonia Park - House has chicken pox 307Nov 29, 2010 7:16 pm the house now has chicken pox lots of red dots everywhere. im pretty impressed with some of the minor things that did get dotted cant complain at all!! a guy was there when i popped in installing the shower screens. however he has to come back as one of the trims had a big scratch on it... the down pipes also got connected today. a bit to late for all the weekends rain though. I also now have the gas and elec all sorted out for handover. so thats one thing out of the way. toilet and fence will be picked up tomorrow. site clean scheduled for Wednesday-Thursday. Just had a sticky beak at your photo's - did you ask for the taps in the laundry to be moved from within the cupboard, to the wall? Not a lot to do until PCI! Most of that will only take a day, and appliances won't be installed until after handover. The colours have come together really well... You must be so excited!!! Thanks Shelley and Sizz!!! im sure they will cure the pox quick smart LOL...We are really happy with how is has come together. there were times that i doubted some of the choices. one thing we did miss was contrasting the floor and shower wall tiles. but its not too bad yeah we asked for the taps to be put on the wall as im not too keen on having leaking hoses the cupboard and damaging the melamine board. So appliances after handover. so do they deliver the day you move in? Re: Bicko’s Rothwell in Devonia Park - House has chicken pox 311Nov 30, 2010 9:18 pm Today my dunny got taken away, tiles, cupboards etc got corked, mirrors got installed and it looks like the gas mob turned up with a right hand meter instead of a left hand one. I didn’t not know that they would even exist. well they must do cos the pipe is on the wrong side lol... There are some defects which i can spot from the outside. I need to start writing them down in prep for PCI next Tuesday. - rough paint on some skirtings - brick mortar cracked where fixers tried to cover up some strapping - roof pointing is rough on the north side - roof still missing a few capping tiles - patch up of cupboard door in rear bedroom is obvious. need to replace - side light fitted without sensor. - nail holes in quad under porch visible. One thing im really unsure they have done correctly is the OPENnetworks stuff. i have wires hangin out of the brick wall below the meter box, and provision for another inside the garage... im pretty sure they are supposed to install a 2nd box outside for OPENnetworks to do their stuff with. i just sent my first email to my CLE since the site started. just re-forwarded all of the OPENnetwork guidelines which they agreed too. see what happens. We've got fibre in Alamanda, but ours got done with Opticomm/Techlife. I don't know the complete story, but James rang Opticomm(?) and they come out once you're almost finished to connect you up. They install the little box below your meter box, and then connect it to power (the funny cabling in the garage). I can take photo's over the weekend, and send them to you if you want. Didn't think to take photo's when we were there! I'm surprised that you've got your rangehood! Our appliances are booked in for installation on handover... Ah cool. if you could send some pics through that would be great yeah our estate gets connected through OPENnetworks. must be similar to Opticomm. if it fibre? what pack did you end up going? we went the four pack... Ah sorry. i just checked our contract tender. Opticomm is the Carlisle provider. ah bugger im not good with this stuff. that's what IT is for at work Re: Bicko’s Rothwell - Fences gone! final touches pre PCI 315Dec 03, 2010 7:36 pm dropped by at around 6 tonight and the cabinet maker was just finishing up. of course i got a few quick snaps of the kitchen which we love. he just installed the Perspex cupboard door, so kitchen is now all complete. Fences also disappeared today. they have left behind some long grass. i may have to get my 4 year old new Victa which has been in storage for the last few years to give it a once over. Another thing that we are really happy with is the 'feature' alarm unit is no longer a 'feature' as it has been moved around the corner and off the render. It's looking very nice inside. i cant wait to get the concreting done in the alfresco and start up the bbq. My gas bottle just ran out of gas so I’m looking forward to taping right into the natural gas Not much left now!! just render and a few tidy ups. Carlisle has been great, and our SS has been even better. Now just have to sort the OPENnetworks. Everyone else seems to have two boxes installed by their builder. We only have the one. Sent the email through yesterday for them to follow up. Re: Bicko’s Rothwell - Fences gone! final touches pre PCI 320Dec 05, 2010 10:18 pm Got the shoulders swingin today. after mowing the 5ft grass at the back of the block, i found that where they pulled out the old farm fence the ground was all built up. this had to be levelled out for the future fence. As things are coming along so quickly today was a good day for it. after levelling it all out (along the fence line) i found that our boundary peg is behind the bloody retaining wall. Its all good because the fence along the road side is provided by Delfin and it's their issue dropped by today to make sure they sort it out. 6hr later tonight, i took the in-laws for a bit of a look to find that the house has ha its per PCI clean and does it look good!!! the carpet has really come up awesome. really happy with the colours inside. it has all come together. early on we were unsure with the floor tiles, but happy with everything now it’s in.. The only this I’m a bit angry with is the cleaner moved the 4 boxes of floor tiles to the garage without taking much care.. Heaps of cracked tiles in the boxes which were perfect. ah well can’t have it all PCI in two days So I'm just reading up on this ecosystem of lights.
