Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 05, 2011 4:48 pm Hello, what would you say that the measures of a garage should be for fitting in 2 cars side by side? Would 5,50 meters width be ok? I know it would be ok, but wanted to understand if having a bigger or smaller place are more comfortable Thanks in advance everyone! Re: Garage measures for 2 cars 2Apr 05, 2011 5:00 pm yes that is plenty.. I have two big cars.. territory and falcon and can get in all 8 doors quite comfortably whilst in garage. Garage measures for 2 cars 5Apr 05, 2011 5:40 pm Mine is 6x6 and with a 30cm deep shelf on the sides it's a touch small. I never have any problems opening doors, but if you plan on storing a few things I'd consider upsizing. I dont think that we would be using that space to store things, as we plan having a separate room for storage. So 6m, with 60cm total shelfs. Thus it is the same as our plan 5,50m Would you mind please sending us picture with the cars in the garage? If it wouldbe too much hassle do not worry, no problem at all, i wouldnt even think about it! Re: Garage measures for 2 cars 7Apr 05, 2011 6:00 pm Ours is 6x6, I copied dads garage size as it never seemed to be an issue, he has a clothes line on the wall and shelves on one side. We are on acreage and will have a big shed so I don't intend on having anything more than cars and shoes in the garage Re: Garage measures for 2 cars 8Apr 05, 2011 6:11 pm Another thing to remember is the height of your garage... make sure it is minimum 29c especially if you have a 4WD etc.... we are going minimum of 6.5m to fit both of our medium sized cars so that you can open up car doors etc...... Re: Garage measures for 2 cars 9Apr 05, 2011 6:21 pm ours is 7m wide. While we have two cars, we never have both cars doors open at the same time. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Please ignore my messy shelves! Re: Garage measures for 2 cars 13Apr 06, 2011 3:59 pm Mine is 6.1 x 6.1 m with a 1.5 x 3.5m storage section to the left hand side. We made it a bit bigger to try and fit a large 4x4 in there, raised it to 28c - width wise is fine but have not been able to check if height is OK as yet, will find out on weekend. Here is a couple of pics.
