Hi INA, Thanks we basically had a friend do it for us, but as I said they are quite heavy and you need 2 people to lift and place them. They put the galvanised posts in and concreted them in and then put the sleepers in, some of them were thicker in parts than others (because of the concrete mould I suppose) so they had to be grinded back to get them in the posts. Then we painted them with a concrete sealer and painted the galvanised posts. Site Start: 10th September, 2010 PCI : Friday 27th January, 2011. Guess I will have to order the concrete sleepers in and get the landscaper to do it. We had a quote from a landscaper with 70mm timber edge. I think concrete sleeper will definitely looks better than the timber ones. I want a few more quotes for our front and back yard landscaping. I have some basic ideas. We have around 90sqm in the front, around 300 sqm at the back and 50 sqm on each side. So I am thinking of having paving at the front, patterned concrete entertainment area at the back, garden beds around the boundary and a timber shed at the corner in the back yard, then drought resistant turf. Can anyone recommend a good landscaper in Bayside area? Thanks Re: Our Retreat - New House Build 244Nov 22, 2012 2:44 pm iBA Hi Ring09, Thanks for the infor. I got a quote from one of the installers from outbacksleepers web site, $2,980 for 12 2.4mx200mmx100mm Kensington concrete sleepers including installation. Too much. I think we will have to stay with timber edges or bricks (we have some bricks left on site). Re: Our Retreat - New House Build 247Jan 21, 2013 1:23 pm More landscaping photos - didnt get done anywhere near as much as we wanted to over the holidays, but did finish and stain deck and finally found a water feature - just want to get 2 bird of paradise plants for either side of the water feature and we have our syn turf delivered, hopefully get to lay this, this long weekend. I cant tell you how great this is, my windows and flyscreens are clogged with dust and I couldnt wait to get the last few jobs done so that we dont have so much dust flying around, When I walk thru the house and look out I still cant believe its actually done, I think I turned a blind eye to the dirt and metre high weeds for so long I got used to it and now to see it done is going to take me a while to get used to it - lol. So this weekend is the big clean and then all of the construction type jobs are done. Still a bit more planting, outdoor furniture, light boxes, garden lighting to go. AND then its onto the front. Laid our turf over the Australia Day weekend. A reminder of what is was like. My DH thinks its fantastic to never get the mower out again - we still have it to keep the weeds down at the front but once this is done it will be going on Gumtree or Ebay and good riddance!! Even my little dog loves it, I havent really seen her rolling around since we moved in 2 years ago and everytime I look out she is rolling and playing on the Syn Turf and the best bit is I can now open both my stacker doors and not get dust into the house Will post a pic when I get the furniture etc into place, then I can really say the Backyard is done. I would have loved to be doing what you are outside but we dont have the know how to do ourselves and so went for something pretty simple and low maintenance (and cheaper - lol) oh well I will have to drool over your pics when you get it down.
