Ok...been awhile...we've had a rough few weeks (nothing to do with the house)
so....the house has had a break in..SS believes it may have been teenagers who were disturbed once in the house. Nothing was taken, but the internal garage door was kicked in (so new door had to be ordered) and they threw a brick into a wall (so the wall needs to be re-plastered on both sides of the gaping hole).
Tiles are almost all in...and they look great (i will load a photo soon).
Carpet is in....but we pointed out to SS at the final inspection, that one room the pattern in the carpet doesn't match and it is quite obvious....SS speaking to carpet company.
final inspection was done last Friday....and SS had already gone around the house with post-it notes highlighting all the areas that needed to be attended to. I couldn't believe that SS has such a high level of standard. We are really lucky, as some of the areas SS had marked, were so hard to see what was wrong, but SS could see a problem and wants it fixed now before handover. Any small scratch, paint off line, bump in the wall, tile not applied correctly, lights not in correctly....these were all the areas SS had marked out before our inspection.
We noticed some bigger areas.....the 2 windows over the kitchen bench are not level with each other...standing close you can just notice the difference, but standing at the other side of the kitchen you can really notice how different they are. Not sure how they are going to fix this, as the glass splashback is between the 2 windows.
Overall everything was fantastic....to the point SS booked our handover day to be 4/11. We initally were going to have it the Friday before Melbourne Cup weekend, but SS is not sure if he can get all the tradies back in time to complete the small jobs that need to be done, so SS felt better with another week.
DH and I are so impressed with the level of workmanship that we don't want to rush them now, as this is where the obvious errors will be made and we will have to live with them Unless the builder agrees to correct it.
SO we are now organising the phone to be disconnected and reconnected at the new house. Getting quotes for the drive, as we want this in before we move into the house...reduce the level of dust coming into the house.
Then after inspection we meet out new neighbors who had handover on our inspection day....there house had been completed for nearly 7 weeks, but it couldn't be handovered as the owners and builder had different plans to the house they were building!! apparently the builder had given the SS the standard plans to build the house, but the owner had the plans they had signed off.....in the end, the builder had to redo their laundry from scratch!!! Then the owners then wouldn't give the last cheque until the builder had resolved the leaking pipe in the front yard...which turned out to be the storm water pipe had broken in 2 places, so all water just escaping down their yard onto our driveway!! so fixed now.
anyway.....got to go, need to pack this house but keep it clean for For Sale inspections...not easy!!
