Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 22, 2010 8:22 am We are currently in the process of completing our drawings and getting all the costing. We are building a high quality home with a good building company but the price is now blowing out to $20,000 a square (imperial) and our house is big at 60 squares, so you get the picture. Our main concern is that we have been given a list of fittings and they are on the cheaper side, eg, a $400 toilet and tile budget of $30 psm. For a house that is costing this much I thought the fittngs would be at least mid-range. Am I right or wrong - I have no idea what people are paying per square and what fittings that include. Love to hear what you all have to say. Thanks, Pink Re: Price per square for new home?? Very confused. 2Aug 22, 2010 8:49 am Top end display homes (volume builders) average between 11K to 14K per square. From what you descibe expect an elevation of another 30% to get good quality fittings ~additional $360K Re: Price per square for new home?? Very confused. 3Aug 22, 2010 8:54 am I would think that for $20000 a square you should be getting higher end fixings. We are paying around $1500 per sqm (which I think is around $13000 per square) and our toilets are similar price, tiles $40 per sqm, stone benches, glass splash, floorboards, etc. That also includes our custom design and town planning. Hope that helps 1) I had requested R6 ceiling insualtion batts, however I noticed that on some areas there are huge gaps which will allow hot air to sweep in, and also noticed black/grey… 0 3597 If this is a custom build then I would expect the builder to set out the door frame closer to the wall to avoid the gap between architrave and the wall and or specify… 9 8302 No idea about the driveway question, but your price for a house that size including landscaping seems very good! 1 6158 |
