Hi all,
We are looking for some advice on how to proceed with a problem with Porter Davis which has now been an issue for months since before handover.
Our electrical drawings show a wall light fitting on either side of where the bed would be. Obviously the whole point of having them is so we can turn them off from IN BED!!!!!! At the meeting with the CSO we made specific mention of where they should be and this was measured and reflected in the electrical plan.
Well surprise, surpise, the elctricians just stuck them in the most convenient place (for them) and you have to get out of bed to turn them off.
Countless emails later PD were advising us that electrical plans are not to scale and they were positioned due to the joists and "no" they won't be moved. What a crock!
Of course there are joists across the wall (as you'd hope) including exactly where the plan indicated. This we pointed out and got a "we'll get back to you". The electricians were scheduled earlier in the same week as the plasterers and decorators were. As part of the 3 month maintenance, we had asked for a decision from PD before the agreed date.
The electricians were very professional and asked what we needed. I showed them our list of outstanding issues which they completed including moving of the lights and switches in line with the plan. We were happy with the outcome although now had four holes in our bedroom wall which we requested PD to fix later that week.
The guys doing the 3 month maintenance stated this plastering was not on their list so they left it undone (although they did complete other plastering that day). Next the Construction Manager attended and advised that he would arrange the plastering but would approach the electricians to arrange repainting.
We were advised today that they have have gone back on their agreement to replaster. So we are left with two over-bed lights, complete with switches that we can reach BUT with four gaping holes and a wall that needs repainting.
So where to from here??? As far as we are concerned it could have been done correctly in the first place. there was no reason not to follow the scale of the electrical plan.
Our journey with PD has been quite smooth for the most part but this really leaves a bitter aftertaste. We have paid a lot of money and we are left with holes in the walls. I guess that now we are "past customers' we are no longer worth pleasing.
