Browse Forums Building A New House Re: FRANKENSTEIN - My building journey 442Aug 24, 2011 2:06 pm So is it because the door isn't on straight, or the garage floor is not level? And I wouldn't have thought it a good idea to have those gaps between the top and second panels, either. You have lots of light coming in to your garage compared to ours, even at the top. Not sure if that's because we have that panel thing across the front? Oceanic with Nautilus upgrades. Handover 8 September 2010 Re: FRANKENSTEIN - My building journey 443Aug 24, 2011 7:22 pm I suspect the garage floor isn't level and the gap at the top is possibly knock on effect from bottom not closing properly. Re: FRANKENSTEIN - My building journey 444Aug 24, 2011 8:09 pm Oh, I'm also not happy about them not putting the water tap for the fridge correctly and now it has caused the fridge to stick out more than it has to. I'm not surprised anymore with all the stuff ups. Re: FRANKENSTEIN - My building journey 445Aug 25, 2011 6:16 pm Amen to that, duke. If I had a $1 for every time I said "I'm over it", i'd be able to pay off my mortgage tomorrow AND buy myself a new car Jason windows came this morning to fix the seal on the front awning window that was leaking. Obviously don't know if it is fixed until it rains again. He did say that we're covered by 2 yr warranty anyway. We're getting combo exhausts installed within the next few weeks, I've got my fingers crossed that the conduit has been installed for it! Oceanic with Nautilus upgrades. Handover 8 September 2010 Re: FRANKENSTEIN - My building journey 446Aug 26, 2011 10:06 am 2yr warranty? - thought it was lifetime (24yrs) warranty like the house structural warranty. What seals is it they replaced? Must have another closer look cause the only ones I have seen are the brush like ones. Re: FRANKENSTEIN - My building journey 447Aug 26, 2011 11:35 am It was the fixed window between the two opening windows. He said that there is double sided tape between the glass and frame, and the tape had moved or broken in the corners or something and so water was getting in. Something like that. We have the brush type seals on the opening awning windows. They seem to do quite well. What would your suggestion be for the front double doors? I don't think the black strip they put on is sufficient, to be honest. And not sure if there is anything that can be put on the lip where the two doors meet? I know it wouldn't be pretty to look at when you open the door, but the wind was whistling through it the other night (bringing in dust and a bit of a draught, too!) Oceanic with Nautilus upgrades. Handover 8 September 2010 Re: FRANKENSTEIN - My building journey 453Aug 27, 2011 6:57 am What noises does it make? Thanks O2. It looks better than mine. The plastic doesn't even lock in place. Better test the oven than too. What temp did you set it to and for how long before you turn it oFf before you usually start hearing the metal contracting noises? Re: FRANKENSTEIN - My building journey 454Aug 27, 2011 10:22 am Your garage door should have been made to measure. That way they would have cut the bottom panel to suit the slope on the floor. We did that on our present home, I thought it would look weird but you don't even notice it and it seals which is the main thing. Looks like DAH just said to the door supplier - "we'll have an x * y door". Once again DAH = premium price & mediocre service.
Re: FRANKENSTEIN - My building journey 455Aug 27, 2011 12:36 pm I honestly couldn't tell you what temp, and how long for before it creaks. It's just a soft creak as it's cooling down, nothing too loud or frequent. It hasn't been anything serious enough for me to think something is wrong. The old cheap oven I had in my old house was worse. As it cooled down it would go POP as if the back panel or something was cooling down. Oceanic with Nautilus upgrades. Handover 8 September 2010 Re: FRANKENSTEIN - My building journey 456Aug 27, 2011 11:20 pm Don't have to be made to measure if the pad was done right. But that's what I will force them to do. At first I thought the paving was wrong but it's the pad as when you stand on the outside you can see more of the black seal on one side than the other. Re: FRANKENSTEIN - My building journey 457Nov 18, 2011 6:32 pm You think there is no GFC when trying to fiind a brick paver to do a small brick paving job around over 15sqm. Help!
