Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 18, 2010 12:11 pm Hi, We have just moved into a new 2 story place, internal space just under 300sqm. According to the builder and manufacturer the gas heater is preset to 50c max. in the factory. In the bathroom nearest the heater the water is more than hot enough. As you get further away the water takes longer to heat up and is still hot enough, just. By the time the water gets to the kitchen/laundry we need to run 20 odd litres to have only just luke warm water. What are other people's experience's with these gas water heaters? This particular model is a very common one that builders use. Thanks Mr.X Re: Gas heater problem, not providing hot enough water 2Aug 18, 2010 1:39 pm how long is the run?? It is comman to take long time to heat up. The house needs to be designed in a way to minimise runs. Also with low flow taps it seem like you wasting a lot of water. but often your not. Re: Gas heater problem, not providing hot enough water 3Aug 18, 2010 2:49 pm Do you have a Smart Star pre-heat system attached? I have the Rinnai 32 - if I don't use the pre-heat button, water does take about 20sec to warm up - but we get the full 50C. (Anyone know how to up the max temp to more than 50?) What brand is it? After 4 years - we're in! Re: Gas heater problem, not providing hot enough water 4Aug 18, 2010 3:09 pm Sounds like some of the piping is running uninsulated or outside the house causing it to cool down. Track the pipes and get them covered if required. Re: Gas heater problem, not providing hot enough water 6Aug 18, 2010 4:51 pm B STAR how long is the run?? It is comman to take long time to heat up. We went with the builders standard heater and he said we should have no issues. Brand is Rinnia and we are happy with 50c but it just seems too much water and time to only finish up with luke warm water. RE smart start, this is what rinnia suggest but for now we will push the builder a touch more. I suppose if your'e just starting building ouble check everything.
