Why on earth did I pick boral??!! ![]() because it's all down to personal taste! i really didn't like anything Austral had to offer, apart from the roof tiles. i'd show what bricks we went for with boral but for some reason the sample on their website and photos of houses with the brick on their website look absolutely nothing like the display wall at boral or a house that has the bricks ![]() Stevep79 & Principessa Finished building Wisdom Homes Impression 33mkII in The Ponds, Sydney http://lilypadintheponds.blogspot.com Re: What bricks did you choose - Show and Tell 45Mar 11, 2009 11:51 am ![]() Looks like a lot of people choose austral over boral! I had some bricks issue during my build earlier. Since it was a relatively rare incident, I was wondering if a different colour choice or even supplier could have made a difference ![]() We went with Boral, that was the choice given by our builder (PD) and we've had no problems at all with our bricks and had a fantastic brickie. But our bricks are darker (Jarrah). I think some people have had problems with their 'light' austral bricks, so maybe it's just a light brick thing not necessarily a company thing ![]() Happy at Home Re: What bricks did you choose - Show and Tell 48Mar 11, 2009 1:52 pm We were very lucky with Henley, in that there were no restrictions (other than cost) as to what brick company you could choose from which they had in their colour selection place. We could have chosen from Boral, Austral, Selkirk, PGH (at that stage...not sure if they still do) and Daniel Robertson.
In the end, after much looking and drive-by's, we settled on Daniel Robertson's Hawthorn Tan Blend. There are 8 pallets sitting on my block, and waiting for the rest to be delivered. It was an expensive choice, but one thing I wasn't going to compromise on, and luckily, I didn't have to. Can't wait to see them go up! Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! It was from the standard range for our builder - actually, we had heaps of choices. Deciding was tough, so we started by eliminating all the ones we hated. That took out anything light, anything red, anything resembling Mission Brown, anything with tumbled edges or a really uneven texture and then we got down to deciding what we liked from what was left. On the advice of a colour consultant friend, we chose the brick first, then worked everything else around it. We chose them because it was what was on the display home, and we thought they were good enough. They were Category 1, but I also heard they were recently regarded as Category 3???
