What bricks did you choose - Show and Tell

Ok - we have now been cleaned!
So - main brick is Boral Mist and feature brick is Austral Graphite - both with Natural Mortar

I love your colours, we dont have the same bricks but they do look similar. I was wondering if you could let me know what your paint/render colours are?

Hi Emma,

The timber planking above the windows and the porch colour is Surfmist and the timber beams/posts are Shale Grey - both of these colours are in the Colorbond colours

This thread is certainly helping me decide which bricks. The current builder I'm considering offers about 40 different brick colour's from 3 different company's

. Not sure if there is any major difference between Austral, Boral & Selkirk.
I have noticed some bricks are painted so I'm avoiding them...(just in case I chip them at some point :))

We selected

Coastal Red and Coastal Amber from Selkirk

Coastal Amber for the Facade

Coastal Red for the side walls

Have any body used those bricks.

Ozzroo, love yours too, Gorgeous! Reminds that we would have loved to have either a recycled brick or something with some character as yours has. Budget didn't allow for it though! Next time maybe.. Vid we have had a serious brick error with Austral. Our bricks were overcooked and now we are having to have them render the back area of our house, but still will have one wall that looks weird. Just ask the question. Oh! This is an old thread

One thing I am finding a laugh is the white/light blonde colour brick use in WA. You almost never see that brick colour in VIC but being a WA girl I remember seeing it so much at home. But now - I don't like it anymore after years of being here!

We had planned from the start to bag our brickwork with granosite - so we just used mixed faced/coloured commons.....the majority of them ended up being a lovely chocolate colour and we couldn't have been surprised at how well they looked with just the stock standard uncoloured mortar...........It has a real "Authentic" feel that seems to suit the style of house.

The front (note that they are yet to be cleaned) looks pretty good as it is.

But the variances are more noticable on the sides and rear of the house with big patches of the reds.......hindsight tells us that we should have got the brickies to scatter the bricks evenly around and we would have been able to leave the bricks bare.

So our new plan is to bag the sides and back and to leave the front plain bricks - as was a trend YEARS ago (we aren't trying to be modern)

We used the Boral Pearl Grey velour with a raked off white mortar. We love them!!

We used Austral "Nickel" in the Metallix range.

They have a great, shiny gloss finish on them. We think they contrast well with the white mortar too ::lol::

we were too looking at symmetry range but because we did not manage to find enough pics to convince ourselves so we ended up choosing boral blackheath.
