Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 16, 2010 8:54 pm Hi Everyone, Carpet and tiles are included in our house package. We have pretty basic options and decided not to upgrade. We were rung up by the carpet company the other day asking if we want to upgrade the underlay for the carpet. We get a basic underlay with our carpet at the moment. We were offered a black upgrade $300 or a gold upgrade $600. I was wondering if any one could tell me a difference in underlay and if you think it is worth upgrading or not. Thanks for any assistance. Re: Carpet Underlay... is there a difference? - Upgrade or n 2Aug 16, 2010 8:57 pm better underlay will give you a much nicer feel and plushness, but a thinner carpet will wear out a lot quicker. You will probably need to change the basic carpet in 5 years of use vs. 10 - 15 years for better thickness / quality. Either way a thicker underlay is prob the way to go. Re: Carpet Underlay... is there a difference? - Upgrade or n 5Aug 17, 2010 11:19 am Suggest you get the best underlay you can have. It makes a big difference to the life and feel of your carpet. Also suggest you check that you get what you pay for. We recarpeted an old house, ordered and paid for good underlay and then found the supplier put in cheaper stuff. Great idea re checking we get what we pay for. Will do that as well. - Thanks everyone Hi l plan to install a self adhesive vinyl plank floor. l first need to attach masonite boards underlay to by plywood subfloor of my house. What size nails and how many… 0 6510 Jimbo73 I would use heaps of adhesive on each sheet and screw rather than nail. use as many as you like cheers Simeon 1 3314 1 8169 |
