Browse Forums Building A New House Re: It's GTB a G.J Gard*er home WE HAVE WOOD!!!!!!!!!!!! 81Oct 22, 2010 10:24 pm Hi Janet, I just spent the last half hour reading this thread after joining the site today and noticing that you are building with Gard*rs too...and your plan is nearly our plan ! Except that here its called a Coolum and ours will be a bit smaller overall, but nearly the same. I absolutely love the colours etc you've picked by the way !! I noticed you organised your own site cut, was that hard to arrange with your builder? Hubby's mate owns an earth moving company but we didn't think it'd be possible to get this done ourselves, we could save a fortune if we could ! Thanks for the entertaining read and hope your builder starts making some progress soon:) Kelly Re: It's GTB a G.J Gard*er home WE HAVE WOOD!!!!!!!!!!!! 82Oct 22, 2010 10:46 pm Hi Kelly and welcome to homeone You will have to post up a pic of your plans would love to see how you have yours a bit different I just love the plan we have and the only thing we are worried about it if the living area is going to be large enough (but thats only because all these new homes seem to have huge open living areas and we really needed some where for the child to be away from us) As for the site cut we did it ourselves as hubbys mate would do it for much cheaper than builder we also got friend to do septic and some of the trenching. But it prob depends on the builder you have, have to say we didnt really ask ours we just told him we where doing it ourselves. Infact have prices a few things ourselves and found we could get them much cheaper this way. I have told the builder I am happy to go with him if he can give us prices similar to what we have been quoted He was not too happy but not to much he could about it either As for the colors haha I am rather worried about them but only time will tell. Our color consultant was as useless as t*ts on a bull so we had to do all the color selection without any help. We are still not sure what color our splash back will be as I had picked green to start off with then hubby didnt like it so changed to red but now he not sure about red hahahaha I have told him he can pick the color but its either red or green Pretty sure I can get what color I want if I really want to push the point tho. Can you post your color selection up for me/us to have a look at ?????? Where are you building????? Cheers Janet Re: It's GTB a G.J Gard*er home WE HAVE WOOD!!!!!!!!!!!! 83Oct 22, 2010 11:09 pm Wow Janet Just stumbled accross you thread, is all happening! BRING IT ON is all I can say........... (ps what happened re the council wanting the landscape plan? I tried to see if there was an outcome but didnt read/ couldnt see what they wanted in the end. How did it end up..did you have to show them acres of landscaping? I might have missed it, just send me to the page to read it) Hey Kiwi, Way much in common LOL I going to have a sticky at your thread in a min Re the landscape plan we just put a very very basic one that said we are going to put in 1 row of tree's 1 row of shrubs and 1 row of ground cover (all ones that they have directed us to have ) And we are doing this in 3 corners of the property (have now met the neighbours that have told us they had to put plans in but as yet 5 years down the track still havent put in THE PLANTS IN THEIR PLANS in yet haha) We not going to bother start planting now as I think the builders and subbys will prob only drive over them. Ohhh forgot to mention we now have a track So no more getting bogged for me (wrong time of year but that hasnt stopped me before haha) Do you have a track Kiwi??????? Cheers Janet Re: It's GTB a G.J Gard*er Home and I got plumbed!!!!!!!!!! 85Oct 23, 2010 8:50 am that is good you dont 'have to plant ' straightaway (I wouldnt till ALL tradies have gone anyway) we dont really need a track, cos our acre is right on a shingle/ dirt road at the top of a small hill and we are basically the last people bar 2 more homes ~that do have long tracks off the shingle cos they are miles (about 1.5 km one of them) from the road. we have a drive which will be shingled for now (pics on thread) are you just shingling sp? your track or leaving it dirt? Re: It's GTB a G.J Gard*er Home and I got plumbed!!!!!!!!!! 86Oct 27, 2010 8:40 pm The Poo tank aka septic is ready to be installed Yippeee then the trenching will be done for the bore water and town water and power/phone. We have great drainage out here which is great. But we will be putting down limestone over the top when the building is finished. Builder says he is also getting impatient as he has 2 builders being paid yet standing around doing nothing????? So I live in hope that once slab is done it will be all GO GO GO. Captains log closed 7.53pm See I feel like I might as well be in space as it still seems to be a bit unreal and I wonder if it will ever get done.
