Thanks Re: Terminating contract 2Aug 13, 2010 10:37 am Hi, How long have you been waiting? NBG normally guarantee that they will start construction of your home within 5 months from contract signing. Have you been waiting longer than the five months? Were the hold ups beyond the control of NGB (ie was there a delay in land being titled, delays with council approval etc). They haven't obtained building permit yet, I had provided all documents they requested with 24 hrs. I do not see any point continuing with them, they haven't supply appropriate paperwork to get building permit, they have taken too long and still hasn't sorted out yet, they are hopeless, I didn't read about their reviews before. Re: Terminating contract 4Aug 13, 2010 3:34 pm Sorry to hear about your plight. It might help to give a call to BACV (if you are in Victoria) to seek their advice. Have a good read of the penalties involved when terminating the contract. Actually volume builders have a big backlog to clear so I am unsure if termination is a good way to go given that you have already waited for so long. If you really want to get a construction lawyer involved, I have used the services of LAC Lawyers. It was a 1.5 years ago though, before contract signing and the cost was not too exorbitant about $400. http://www.laclawyers.com.au/Offices.aspx Re: Terminating contract 5Aug 13, 2010 5:51 pm Thanks, but I lost trust in them, I m feared what if they screw up something in middle of construction. Re: Terminating contract 6Aug 13, 2010 6:00 pm Hi, we also lost faith in our builder during the tender/contract time. I was so disheartened with the customer service and the inconsistancies of what the sales representative promised and what was actually offered. I then went on the net and researched the builder. wow was that an eye opener. according to 95% of people they were the worst builder EVER. We persevered as terminating the contract was going to be too costly for us and I really loved the design and layout of the house. We searched high and low for a house similar but nothing compared. I am so glad we did persevere because we are nearly at lock up stage and we could not fault the building process what so ever. We employed the services of an independant building inspector to really make sure thing were going ok. The difference between the sales team and the building team is massive. our customer service person is always keeping us informed and is only a phone call away. our site supervisor calls my husband weekly with an update. good luck with everything. KT Hi Tracey, you have taken too long to react to your builder's wrongdoing and are now left in a vulnerable position.
