Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 11, 2010 7:02 pm Hi all Just on the finalising stage and unable to decide on the front door. The front entrance is 1475mm. I first thought of having a 820mm width XN6 door with a sidelight. Then decided that I should go for a 920mm width door and the builder agreed for it saying that the sidelight will be narrow, and I was fine with it. Now I am told that with a 920mm door they cannot have a sidelight. I have to decide between a 920mm door without a sidelight or 820mm door with sidelight, and give a decision tomorrow. Can someone tell me whether the sidelight section can be kept as openable. i.e like a double door. Is it possible to get that done and if so appr. how much it would cost? Re: 920mm XN6 Front door and sidelight 2Aug 11, 2010 7:36 pm im inclined to think they can do anything but it will be a special order that the builder may not like i had a quick look at the xn6, i think your saying your choices are either -single 820 xn6 with a 655 highlight (give take architrave), or -single 920 xn6 with no highlight not sure how youd do a double door, i dont think you have the room do you? at least without the one being smaller than the other, you might be able to do 2 720s? If you cant get your double, i'd choose the option with the highlight, you get a lot of light through, and without a highlight its usually quite dark inside the entrance, thats probably a disadvantage of the double doors without highlights, it'd generally be pretty dark Re: 920mm XN6 Front door and sidelight 4Aug 11, 2010 8:35 pm Hi Mav... thanks for that.. Yes, without a sidelight it would be dark.. thats y I am trying to have the sidelight but with a wide entrance.. If I can get a swinging sidelight with 820mm door that would serve the purpose... but dont know whether the builder will agree... Re: 920mm XN6 Front door and sidelight 5Aug 11, 2010 9:25 pm Vasan Now I am told that with a 920mm door they cannot have a sidelight. Doesn't make sense to me... ask again.
