Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 10, 2010 4:25 pm We are building a two story home in Brisbane. The total area of the building is around 260sqm. The builder started construction in March and suppose to finish in mid August according to the contract(145 days from commencement). The frames was up last months and we made the payment straight away to avoid any delaying in construction. They haven't done anything since then. I just found out the builder's license was suspended last week from BSA. We been told by BAS the builder was failed to comply with an audit. The builder was promised they are going to fixed the problem early next week. We haven't terminate the contract yet, probably wait until early next week. see how things go.. I heard some of the builders are reluctant to take over the job due to insurance issues etc. Has anyone had similar experience?? What should I do next?? sooooo stressed.. Re: Builder's license was suspended last week... 2Aug 10, 2010 4:40 pm This happens a quite a bit with builders they are not the best at submitting their paper work to the BSA that proves they are financially viable, don't panic yet but keep on top of it and if it hasn't sorted itself out in the next week or so talk to the BAS again and seek legal advice. If you go to the BSA web site you can do a licence check. We have been building with them for 7 months now and they are well overdue, I have contacted my lawyer and we are going to terminate our contract due to them being in breach of the contract either their licence being suspended or cancelled. Re: Builder's license was suspended last week... 6Aug 26, 2010 8:01 pm I found out the builder hasnt paid their supplier(the equipments they have hired onsite) since April. They sent a lettler to all their customers and saying they are going to resolve the issues with BSA. Again this is an empty promise from them. We are at a very critical stage, as the frames would be damaged if they are exposed too long without a roof. We tried to contact the builder but no response. If anyone in a similar situation, please send me a private messege and we can discuss it. Re: Builder's license was suspended last week... 8Aug 27, 2010 11:22 am hi Hollywood, did you contact BSA? The response I have from the BSA is that it will take at least 2 to 3 months before they send out someone to work on the site.
