Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 25, 2010 5:19 pm Hello, I'm just wondering how long your plans took in Council. We are with Blacktown Council, who apparently are quite quick. We are building with Wisdom Homes and our plans were lodged on 17 May. I had the weekly update from Wisdom today advising the name of our assessor (?) and they also advised that once the neighbour notification expires on 3 June it should pretty much be approved right away. It just sounds too good to be true lol. So, how short a time, or long a time did you have to wait. http://from-the-hills-to-the-ridge.blogspot.com/ I have finally started my blog, although nothing on there yet as I've been too busy with our move but promise to start very soon! Anna Re: How long did your plans take in Council? 2May 25, 2010 6:00 pm Hi Anna, welcome to the Forum and good luck with the build! Ours took 5 wks I think, and it was longer than normal, as our developemnt didn't comply with everything, so it had to go for a DAU meeting ... all was good in the end. Re: How long did your plans take in Council? 3May 25, 2010 6:02 pm Hi AnnaV, My timetable went something like this (I'm building in Victoria); land settled on 6/4, final plans signed on 9/4, building started on 21/4. So I reckon the estimate you have been given sounds roughly accurate. Best of luck for the build Re: How long did your plans take in Council? 5May 25, 2010 7:35 pm In on the 6th of one month and out on the 12th of the next month with no issues. Hornsby Shire. Wow. That's great. You must have been rapt! I'm hoping (wishful thinking) that we get approved as soon as the neighbour notification expires. Wisdom Homes advised today that they don't forsee any problems with the Council but they don't really know and anything can happen. I'm more concerned with the neighbours. We are building a large 2 storey home and we are surrounded by single storey homes (still being built) Anna Re: How long did your plans take in Council? 11May 25, 2010 10:22 pm My plans are about to be lodged. Council has told me up to 6 weeks so I'll have to wait and see. Good luck! We are building the same house as you. I rang council yesterday to ask why we havent got an assessing officer yet and was rudely told that it takes 6-8 weeks to get approval and they are moving as fast as they can. I wish I was building in your council area because we had to get developer approval too, which took another 2 weeks, not to mention the 9 months I waited for registration to happen. So I feel like Ive been waiting FOREVER! Re: How long did your plans take in Council? 14Aug 11, 2010 10:12 am 75etd Anyone had experience with Penrith Council?
