Hi, guys,
I am building with Clarendon in WL. This builder only does 2 coat on the interior walls.
4 beds, 32 suqare. Wondering if it's worth doing the 3rd coat at a cost of $700.
Appreciate if anyone who could give me some advice.

Re: $700 for the 3rd coat, is it worth? 2Aug 05, 2010 1:38 pm I enquired about a third coat and was quoted $1000 for a 20 square house so you are getting better value by comparison. One thing with volume builders is that most of them only apply two top coats straight to plaster without any undercoat as recommended by paint manufacturers. A Solver rep actually told me I would get better coverage if I applied one undercoat and one top coat than two top coats straight on plaster. I don’t know how true this is but if it is genuine then I would upgrade to an undercoat plus two top coats over three top coats (and wouldn’t an undercoat be cheaper than a top coat anyway)??? Re: $700 for the 3rd coat, is it worth? 3Aug 05, 2010 1:40 pm I was quoted over $1000 for third coat, so I would go for it for that size house and only $700. 3 Coats is definately better than 2. Well that's my 2 cents Sleven Moved into our Atlantique MkII 36 by Carlisle Homes Re: $700 for the 3rd coat, is it worth? 8Aug 06, 2010 9:07 am Your relying on the tradie to do the 3rd coat which in our case even for 2 coats was for some reason hard to do (visible lack of paint on some walls). Think about it this way, you will be repainting (2,3,5 years), you might want feature walls and you will mark the paint when moving in... do you want to spend $700-$1000 only to repaint it?
