Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 03, 2010 12:27 pm Hi all! So after carefully studying the contours plan of my newly purchased block, I noticed that the land slopes off at the rear. In fact with the house plan on the lot, the land at the rear 4 meters of the house slopes away by 700mm (70cm)!. Of course this will need to be resolved and I'm thinking that running a retaining wall across the rear of the property, 4m in from the back fence will be needed. The block is 15m wide x 31m deep. There's a 4m easement across the rear, and I would need to place the retaining wall right against this 4m mark. Then build up the soil for the 4.5m from the wall back under the house. Hope that makes sense! The slab itself will come to within 0.5m of the wall. Does anyone have an idea of what cost I might be looking at to do this? (a 15m wide, 70cm high retaining wall with compacted fill)? House Plan is as follows: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The slope begins from the start (left side) of the patio and drops 70cm to the start (left side) of the easement. I hope I can do this and still have the backyard looking ok!! any ideas??? Building at Warner Lakes in sunny Queensland. Building with Bold Properties. Depending on the block you choose you may be looking around $3000 for 10.5sqm + any extra costs for excavation or fill removal. Hope this gives you an idea Thank you again Simeon.. I will call my certifier for that. Have a good day 4 5105 Thanks for the insights, that makes perfect sense, and yeah, I will be leaning on the experience of the excavator operator entirely. 6 16048 Hi All, I engaged a tradie to install concrete retaining wall 600-800mm high over 32 meters in Victoria.
