WIll have to wait till we move in lol. Ok I just received the frame stage bill but they havent entirely completed it. 95% of the framing is up but all the metal supports etc have not been fitted. Should we wait till its finished or I am I being too picky? I am so in love with your block You guys started your build around the same time as us. We were just as surprised as you to hear that we too should be in before Christmas!!! In regards to making progress payments prior to the work being finished, have a read of your contract. I held off paying for the brick work and wrote an email explaining that I would not pay until the work was completed and the concerns I had were rectified. I received an email reply which referred to a clause in my contract stating that all payments would be made for the "substantial completion of each stage" and that "the owner cannot hold any money back on a progress claim". We have a standard NSW HIA contract, and I imagine that the conditions would be similar for those in other states. Best of luck with your build. I'll definitely be interested in watching your progress Re: PROJECT NEVAEH **Framing Started** 84Sep 14, 2010 11:56 am Usually, you dont hold back payment for the stage completion. The process of defect handling is a separate process that runs in parallel with the build process. So it would run something like this (1) On frame completion, pay nominated amount to the builder (2) Collate all frame related defects and handover to builder (3) Builder will fix before moving on/or during the next stage build. Dont know if this makes sense ? Suburbia is where the developer bulldozes out the trees, then names the streets after them. Re: PROJECT NEVAEH **Framing Started** 85Sep 14, 2010 11:58 am Wait till it is finished, we received our fix stage invoice, but because our bricks are still in progress (after the first lot of bricking was ripped down) I am waiting until the bricking is complete before paying it, that way if something is not right I have something to hold against them until it is fixed. We went out yesterday and the framing is completed. Yah!! There is only one issue we have and that is the shelf we put in the ensuite shower is half the size it suppose to be.
