Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our Perth Hills Pole Home Thread.... 41Nov 30, 2010 2:15 pm There are a lot of tall gums around here as well, and boy they grow quickly. Maybe a nice visit with one of your glasses of wine to the gum owners may just do the trick. Teee heee. We all understand what “view” means up here. No harm in trying….!!! I actually prefer the view of the valley. Well, during the day that is. It’s way more calming. At night, the view towards and over the city may be pretty with all the lights, but it reminds me of how busy the city can be. But watching the planes land and disappear amongst the lights is pretty cool. ( Meeee, no complain…!!!! ) I don’t have a thread on the build here. I’m only quite new to the forum – and lovin’ it. There is just so much information here. The house has been here for around 3 years and is still a ‘work in progress’. We aren’t in any hurry though. I also have an new house being built over in Byford in one of the many new estates over there. It’s an investment property for me to do something with. So, busy, busy, busy. Maybe once it’s built I’ll start a thread to help with the gardening there. That’s my favourite part, the garden. I’m sure to get a heap of great advice from here. Can’t wait to see the photos as your house goes up. Exciting, exciting!!!! Re: Our Perth Hills Pole Home Thread.... 42Nov 30, 2010 8:34 pm Hi Can't do much about the trees, they are part of the heritage trail in front of us, so have many there for a long time I think. Actually the trees give lots of ambience, so it's OK. Gardening is the one think I lack so would be interested in any tips on how to do something with all our land. Hubby is the one into planting all the vegetable, fruit and so forth. Which he is very excited about starting. But would be nice to have some just garden stuff if you know what I mean. What type of home did you build? I can see ours being a work in progress 3 years on too LOL.... Good luck with your investment property build, you could do a thread on that also as a build. I think there's quite afew people out that way building from what I've read on the forum. Cheers fellow Greenmount Neighbour! We like the look of the two storey home, but i do like the dunsborough we would like to add an extra room like a games room thats why the two storey seems good you have your upstairs living but also have a games/activity room downstairs. I really need to find a couple of the THF homes so i can get an idea of what they look like, does anyone know where there is quite a few together so we can have a look? Thanks Jelly Bean Re: Our Perth Hills Pole Home Thread.... 44Dec 03, 2010 8:36 am Jelly Bean Hi Vegemate and Cleo, We are have a block of land in Bedfordale, around there people have bought in rocks and sand for their blocks, but we were after something more natural, and the pole homes seem to be the way to go, plus less expensive on site costs we hope. Thanks Jelly Bean Hi Jelly and Cleo, Jelly, it IS hard to find THF houses besides for the Queenslander on display. I do know of an extended Dunsborough in Carmel - I think it's on Carmel Rd East. I saw it while driving up there a few months back. Besides for that, if you search this forum, you'll see that there is also a thread about some north of Muchea. I think if you put " Total Home Frames" in as a search term you'll find that. Cleo, I'm not really a blogger so have no plans of doing that for our build. But, I'd be happy to message you about any questions you might have or send you photos of our block and outlook. I am enjoying following your photos and is the offer still open to have a look at the Dunsborough type upstairs when it's done? Cheers Vegemate Re: Our Perth Hills Pole Home Thread.... 45Dec 03, 2010 10:43 am cleopatra What type of home did you build? I can see ours being a work in progress 3 years on too LOL.... There are two stories - it has a mezzanine level upstairs where the main bedroom with bathroom is. The view from up there is just great while laying in bed. We have massive cathedral windows for the view. Underneath has not been built in as yet and is being used to store alot of stuff at the moment. But getting there.... It's a great place. There's still alot to do but it's just a nice place to come home to after a long day at work. I sure like the idea of the colourbond cladding = no painting! Cheers Vegemate Re: Our Perth Hills Pole Home Thread.... 47Dec 03, 2010 5:21 pm Hey there Vegemate, No it’s not a THF house but wish it was. The actual builder used was a massive drama and created a lot of problems and headaches. It took twice as long to finish. His business has closed now and I’d hate to think that he’s still building/trading under another name. I won’t elaborate in public who he is because I know that he’s caused a lot of drama for others. We still have a few problems that need fixing but all is well and we’ll get there on these things. And yipeeee, no painting. It's a pet hate.....
