Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 26, 2010 9:09 am Hi We live in Perth, WA and are planning to either demolish and build a new home or renovate what we have. Which builders would you guys recommend for a new home (budget of $200,000-$300,000). We already have the block. How much do you need to allow for cost overruns? thanks Chucksta Re: Thinking of Building in WA 2Jul 26, 2010 2:45 pm You could approach any builder in WA and probably get a solution within your budget. Some people will have good experiences with one builder, and others will have bad experiences with the same builder. So you're probably not going to get the list of recommendations you're after. I'd suggest you start looking at display villages to get an idea of what the builders offer, and what their prices are. Just keep in mind that in addition to the build price they tell you, you need to consider: 1. the cost of demolition 2. the cost of site works (which might include things like converting overhead power to underground) 3. items that aren't included in the build price, like floor coverings, internal painting, air conditioning etc (check with the builders for exactly what is included and what is not) 4. the cost of upgrades beyond what the builder offers (eg. a different range of tiles, door knobs, elevation to the standard) 5. the cost of landscaping 6. lots of other things that other people on the forum can advise you about! Any builder you speak to can give you an indicative figure for these types of things, but the reality is you will really need to do some research to get accurate estimates for your area, your block, and the builder you end up choosing. there's lots of variables. Good luck. isn't a garage level with the rest of the house a given? pretty sure they 'came around' long time ago. if you have a flat block, the garage is usually level with the rest… 1 17525 go upvc window frames ensure insulation under colorbond. not just sarking, lighter color roof also not sure if you have seen this viewtopic.php?t=5823 last couple of pages… 4 110567 |
