Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 25, 2010 3:52 pm Just wondering if any Simonds clients have been provided with a frame inspection report after construction has been inspected by the building surveyor and before the relevant progress payment is made. Your advice would be appreciated. Re: SIMONDS HOMES Frame Inspection Report 2Jul 25, 2010 5:02 pm Hi SW With any builder, you are entitled to talk to your PCA about mandatory inspections. This is completely regardless of whether you employed this company/person as the PCA, or the builder did (if the builder did it, you should have signed the application form and should be well aware of who your PCA is). I asked our PCA for frame report and they emailed it to me, no questions asked. You don't need to wait til the end of construction. As soon as the inspection (and the report) is done, you should be able to get it from PCA. My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ... Re: SIMONDS HOMES Frame Inspection Report 3Jul 25, 2010 5:42 pm Hi Lex Thanks for your reply. In an attempt to obtain a copy of the frame approval, we did in fact email the Building Surveyor who apparently undertook the mandatory inspections. We were told however that all that is provided is the Certificate of Occupancy (we are in Victoria). Re: SIMONDS HOMES Frame Inspection Report 4Jul 25, 2010 6:47 pm That's a bit odd to me. It would be nice to hear what are other people's experiences with the PCA. I'm pretty sure that you can expect more from the PCA (there is info on the web ... too lazy to search for it now ). You are entitled to speak to the inspector, as well as get every single mandatory stage inspection report upon request. It's a pitty that the report is not automatically forwarded to the client - this way it seems some people have it the hard way just by chance, despite the entitlement My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ...
