Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 29, 2007 11:49 am I will need some one to explain or give opinion related some of following
1) $1400 allowance of 5 year building indemnity insurance. What is this means? 2) melamine shelves versus painted particle board. One builder said that painted particle board is better. 3) Is LINKWARE a good tapware? One builder said that it could give me the hansa polo as they are same price? 4) what is the best way to ask for references from builders of their past works? They will sure give names that will say good things about them, but any ideas? many thanks ozn Re: Indemnity insurance allowance? and some others questioms 2Nov 02, 2007 7:56 pm Hi Ozn, Unfortunately, I don't have answers to your questions, but would be interested in any answers so thought I would bring this one back up again - anyone?? Ruth -Bought house in Melbourne inner burbs, knocked it down & now...we are owner builders! Completed OB project and moved in to our new home with our new baby in May 2009! Re: Indemnity insurance allowance? and some others questioms 3Nov 02, 2007 8:33 pm For the references maybe you could just ask if there are any houses that are the same or similar plan in the area because you need some ideas of what they have done with their front garden/paving colours, etc, etc. Might work, might not. Then you could knock on the door and explain that you are thinking of building the same plan and ask if they are happy with the way things went. I'm sure they wouldn't mind.
Can't help with the others - although I would prefer melamine shelves rather than painted board - much better finish. Ray. Seriously, painted particle board is not better than melamine and I would be cautious of anything else the builder says.
