Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 20, 2010 4:52 pm Just got our second water bill for our block, we are up to lock up stage, the bill is nearly 3 times the price of the bill for our rental , and there are 2 adults and 2 children using the water everyday. I know they need to use a fair bit of water to clean their equipment, but 3 times what a family of 4 uses? What has your experience been with water bills while building? Our water rates (without usage) is $1000 per year, the actual usage was only $4.00. Could a neighbouring build have been using your water? I've seen tradies around our estate plugging into other power boxes on other sites, rather than the one they are working on. Dear J.K. Rowling, Your books are entirely unrealistic. I just don’t understand how they can use so much water in 3 months. PD are paying the power bill until handover, why don’t they pay the water bill too, we aren’t using any water there. Haven't been issued with an electricity bill yet though, so perhaps my builder is paying that. But your water bill, thats quite excessive. How much does it say that they've used? Dear J.K. I went and checked the meter at the block myself and it was 000006 so I called Water Corp. Apparently regularly with houses being built they do an estimate, however in my case they noted it was an estimate because the gate was locked and they couldn't get into the property to read the meter. Given I have no fences yet I explained this was impossible. It turns out they checked out the wrong block. Re: Water bill while building 7Jul 22, 2010 1:25 pm Yep , they can be clever. I was charged for water usage on the block with the tap ( some small amount I dont remember but less than $20 I think ) But I got a bill for 18c for the other block that doesnt even have a tap yet. Go figure.
