I've been told that my feature tiles are arriving today to site - can't wait to see them in real life... Thanks Bags Did your feature tiles arrive today? If they look half as good in real life as they do in your pics, they should look fantastic! sleven WOW looks fab - your tiles go perfectly with the cabinets! Looks great! Congrats Thanks sleven. Just took a peek at your latest pics from moving in - talk about W O W !!! Your place looks fantastic, so it's a nice complement coming from someone who has such great taste Such a relief to see that all the colours don't look hideous together after making all the selections such a long time ago. But there's still the carpets to match, and the paint, and the window coverings, and the furniture and and and...... Re: Lis’ Santorini – DAH - Tiling Begins 163Dec 14, 2010 10:56 pm Hi Lis - yes they've been delivered today to the site - could not see them as the tiler was gone by the time we got home. I only could see the bathroom tile throught the window - but not good enough to take a photo... maybe they will stay longer tomorrow so I can get a sneak peek... I don't have a huge amount of tiling as the Laundry is not getting tiled until after handover. How's your progress? Will do my best to get some new pics in the next few days, but no promises. Sucks not being able to go in now that all the exciting stuff is going in Re: Lis’ Santorini – DAH - Tiling Begins 165Dec 21, 2010 10:17 pm Time for the weekly update, and what and up-and-down week it's been! The bathroom tiling looks to be complete, but there are some things that need to be fixed. The tiling to both the bath rise & hob should be the same (the mocha floor tile colour) but instead the hob has been tiled in the white wall tile. The overhead cupboards have been installed, but it seem that 2 fixed panels for the front of the microwave recess are missing. And the worst of all is that the tapware for the showers has been installed, but they have installed taps instead of mixers!!! As soon as I saw this I went straight back to my addenda, and yep, they should be mixers not taps - phew! Emailed my CLO and she got back to me first thing this morning. It seems that the addenda says mixers, but the plans say taps. Not sure how this is going to be fixed as the pipes etc will probably need to be changed I suppose And to top it all off, I called the estate developers to organise the fencing and landscaping that has been included to those in our estate, only to be told that since we are the secondary purchasers of the land we aren't eligible for the fencing and landscaping package that only the initial purchasers are entitled to it I can do without the landscaping, but we were really counting on not having to pay for fencing. Anyone know who does fencing cheap??? Re: Lis’ Santorini – DAH - Tiling Begins 166Dec 22, 2010 9:19 pm I received notification from my CLO today that the taps in the showers will be fixed, as well as the tiling - although I really hope that this won't majorly effect the time till completion of the house. Not sure how much will get done over the Christmas break, but when we last met with our SS, he estimated that we might be ready for PCI by the end of January. Fingers crossed, but soooo much to get organised in the meantime!!! My plumber has to fix the mixer positioning in our Laundry as it's not centered above the Laundry trough. Tiling is finished - could not get in to get some decent photos - through the windows is looking good but I want to see it close up to give it my approval Not sure if anything else will happen this week - it seems that they cleaned the site - it's looking nice a tidy. Good that the tiling and tap fixes will be done but real bummer about the landscaping and fencing. Perhaps you could push them to go halves with the fencing and landscaping or something since you are the ones actually developing the block? That is really pig-headed of them if they don't! PCI at end of Jan! Well after having a sook & sulk about the issue, we've realised that hopefully there won't be too much fencing that we will have to take care of ourselves. Our neighbours on the right have put up their fence, and we have half of a rear fence. Our neighbours on our left-hand side will hopefully be eligible for the fencing package so perhaps we can catch up with them & ask that they get their fencing up as soon as possible, then there will only by half of the back fence that we would have to do ourselves. That's the plan anyway Re: Lis’ Santorini – DAH - Tiling Begins 170Dec 23, 2010 1:24 am Hahaaa good plan with the fencing, I like it! Need an update Do you have a PCI date as yet? Hey there Bags, nothing happened at our place over the Christmas/New Years period, but I am happy to say that there has been a bit of action over the last week. DH was able to go past this afternoon and met up with SS and have a little chat about how we are going and all our issues that need to be fixed. Lots of things to report from this visit (but sorry, no current photos as DH didn't bring along the camera ) Our garage has been poured, theatre step reduced in size (phew!), oven stove & rangehood installed, water filter installed, shower screens and mirror in main bathroom installed. It appears that the tiling that we thought hadn't been mitred, actually is but needs to be grouted again properly which is why we could see the biscuit side of some of the tiles. Bit bummed that there is an 'in your face' support beam going down the front part of our walk-in-pantry, but apparently this is required when there's shelving greater than 1200mm wide. Even though it will be painted, it's not exactly elegant... Will be speaking to a cabinet-maker friend of ours to see if there is a 'prettier' solution we can come up with A few more updated pics: ~Bathroom Sinks and Tapware Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ ~Fixed Theatre Step - now only big enough for a (large!) foot Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ ~Pantry - With Ugly Support Post Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ ~Cooktop & Oven Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ ~Oooh, so shiny Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Even though there are a few things left to go in and some more to be fixed, SS thinks that we should be able to get PCI by the end of January. Not holding my breath, but am willing to be pleasantly surprised! Re: Lis’ Santorini – DAH - Appliances Installed 173Jan 11, 2011 7:21 am wow Lis - you are ahead of us - we delivered our appliances to our site yesterday afternoon - hopefully they will be installed today. Yesterday they installed our water heater and solar panels - big mama. The instantaneous wasn't installed but was delivered so that's probably next on the list. Our garage floor was done last week as well but no mirrors/shower screens as yet. Did they start painting your render/gutters/doors etc? We have the same issue with our WIP - had the same reaction - didn't like the support but realised that it has to be there... will do something after handover. My ceilings need attention and a few fixes here and there. We've been told by our CLO - PCI second week of Feb... They did manage to get quite a bit done before the Christmas break which we're really pleased about, and we are doing quite a few things ourselves after hand-over (like drive-way, splashback & wardrobes) which is why they should be able to finish up fairly soon. External painting hasn't been done yet, so still a bit anxious about how that will turn out! ssci1 love your kitchen surely they'll come up with a way to get that support in your pantry looking hot!! Thanks ssci, hope so!!! Mine is as per the Amari display so I know it will be ok - just need to see it done . They do have to fix the render before painting though - I think that the gutters have been moved after the render was done as some of it is missing and one of the roof flashings next to the portico needs to be fixed. But as our house elevation is quite different to the Kensington and our roof tiles will be the darker colour 'Aniseed', I hope it turns out ok. ~Kensington Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We too need to have some of the external render fixed up before painting can be done. One of the external lights was put in the wrong spot and since moved leaving a sizable chunk of render missing. Was informed by CLO today that the tiling will be fixed up towards the end of the week, and that our gas and electrical finals are now done. Painter and plasterer were in today to do touch ups, so making good progress this week.
