Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 16, 2010 10:46 am Hi all, new to this forum but have a (fairly) quick decision to make and hoping I can get some opinions. Not a new building project, but a renovation to a house we have just purchased. We have had plans approved to enclose the double carport downstairs (to the left). Will become kids retreat and 2 bedrooms for the boys. Existing colour is colorbond Torres Blue, which I found was discontinued in 2003. No stock left anywhere, so I need to decide what to do. Other colours are; windows dulux charcoal and roofing is zincalume. The way I see it I have two options; 1. Reuse the existing colorbond wall between the extension and existing downstairs room (will be replaced with an internal wall) for the front of the house; this will already be pre-faded so match in with the rest of the front, then have zincalume painted to colour match for the sides and back (which are fairly hidden). Carry through with the charcoal for the windows. Question is; will I end up with something that looks like a big blue box? 2. Use zincalume (unpainted) for the extension, tying in with the roof, then have the windows for the extension done in a match to the Torres Blue. I'm not sure how good zincalume will fit, I think the contrast might be nice but I don't want to make it 'cheap looking'. 3. Any other ideas??? Appreciate your views, I'm stuck here! I think it would be better to be uniform, you could always add a contrasting colour as detail later on but you would need to tie it into the rest of the house if you know what I mean.
