Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 16, 2010 12:02 am Hi All
Well we started the build process way back in December. We purchased a block near the coast down near mandurah. We got it for a steal, thanks to the GFC. Settlement was on 08-01-2010. Next we had to decide on a builder and work out a suitable plan. We had something in mind and after months of hard work we have settled on this plan with Switch. Love that your alfresco is large as well, obviously a very well thought out plan with plenty of storage areas. Nope there's no turning back from here, upwards & onwards!! Looks like you've almost caught up to us though cos we only handed our final docs back last week (and we started working with Sw1tch in November! ). And after waiting I reckon 20 weeks all up for them to do stuff, now we have to wait for the bank to reapprove us for the correct amount as some of the variations were left out of the docs sent to the bank (everything so far has been done backwards, so why stop now?). I was hoping for slab down this month but that might be hopeful (as is our original goal of being in by Christmas). Have you heard anything re scheduling? It's been a long time since i've been on the forum, I've been caught up with work. Our build is still in paperwork stage and we have to sort a few things out in the contract. We are a little bit disappointed by the lack of communication from the builder. Our sales rep left and we were never informed abt it. We kept calling him and he wasn't picking up. So hubby decided to call the office and then they told us that he left. We were quite disappointed because he was a nice guy and already built a rapport with him. So hubby called the office and blasted them abt the lack of communication. Anyway our design is at the council at the moment but we never got to sign the final design before it was submitted to the council. The builder has agreed to make a few changes without us paying the variation. They told us because council is slow that's why they submitted the plan. Now we have got our prestart pack and signed the contract. We need to do our selection now. Then hopefully we'll be good to go. You've got a really nice plan. I'll keep an eye on your thread and all the others building with Switch! Anyone else having issues contacting the SS? I have sent 3 emails and left VM and all I am getting is crickets! This is starting to give me the sh#ts. Re: Switch Homes Ten70 - Our first Home 16Aug 04, 2010 7:14 pm Well they have cleared and leveled the block. It looks like they have compacted as well. I went to take some pics and the batteries were dead. I will take some more on the weekend and upload to my thread. Re: Switch Homes Ten70 - Our first Home 17Aug 04, 2010 9:31 pm Good to hear they started on time. Bugger about the batteries tho! I am not sure why they will need to put in retaining walls. The scrap and level seems to have done the job with making the whole block level and all the dirt is nicely compacted against the neighbours fences. I had a call from the Build Manager on Thursday and he gave me the mobile number for the SS. Rang him and he seems like a good bloke and we are going to have a meeting in the next few weeks. All progressing nicely. I just need the house finished by end of Feb next year so we can move out of our rental at the end of the lease. I have attached the latest picture of the cleared block.
