Locked Out Now BRICK 43Oct 01, 2010 5:41 pm Whilst lurking around the site today all our bricks are delivered and sand is piled in heaps waiting for Brickies on Monday. Then a big truck arrived to deliver yet more stuff. They had KEYS! We slipped in thru the door when they weren't looking. Completely invisible, we were able to see the beginings of our new home. Forgot the essential camera. Re: Dove's Burbank Evolution 23 - PICS. Locked Out Now BRICK 44Oct 01, 2010 6:01 pm Bricks and a clandestine entry-and NO CAMERA! Roofed Wrapped & Pla 45Oct 01, 2010 7:12 pm Hi Dove, just wanted to pop in + say hi ~ and say how wonderful all your photos are! Loving them. You have a gorgeous looking house coming along there. I am very jealous of your fireplace ~ does it have a mantelpiece? It does look like it's going to?? I would've loved to have had a mantel above ours ~ yet another thing I thought of too late! Looks like some good progress coming along now for you with your bricks being delivered ~ it'll be good to see those too. ~ cheers, J _______________________________________________________________ We're a knockdown | rebuild ~ Melb SE burbs Building modified version of the Fairhaven Glenaire Homeone thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=28429 _______________________________________________________________ Re: Dove's Burbank Evolution 23 - PICS. Locked Out Now BRICK 46Oct 01, 2010 7:32 pm Thanks J, Yep a stone mantle over the fire place. Hopefuly a big TV above on the wall. It cost me a Slab (Crownie's) to have the Framers put in extra mounting points. A a suggestion I am still considering is to have a stone mason fit a hearth stone surround on the floor. Something for you to think about? Re: Dove's Burbank Evolution 23 - PICS. Locked Out Now BRICK 47Oct 01, 2010 8:13 pm Thanks Dove for the suggestion ~ though I'm not sure that would work for us as our fireplace is setback "into" the wall IYKWIM. The hearth stone around the floor is a great idea. We're actually setting stone cladding (pretend stone!) around the fireplace on the wall, which will hopefully look ok. The floor will be tiled in the room the fireplace is in (sort of an "outdoor room" with sliding doors to make it also an "indoor room" in winter). A little bit different. But I love the look of your mantel ~ I'm thinking of all the lovely decorative things you'll be able to put on it! Maybe you won't so much with the tv above it. Looks great even now! How lovely this will be at Christmas time! (Even though you may not have the fire actually going in December! ) _______________________________________________________________ We're a knockdown | rebuild ~ Melb SE burbs Building modified version of the Fairhaven Glenaire Homeone thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=28429 _______________________________________________________________ Re: Dove's Burbank Evolution 23 - PICS. Locked Out Now BRICK 49Oct 04, 2010 7:27 pm Went past Sunday morning. No activity. Came back around 6:00 pm after a spit roast with friends. A heap of blokes in masks finishing the plaster. Amazing! . Brickies were supposed to start this morning . AND they did for about an hour or so and then left never to be seen again . Went past late this afternoon. No sign of activity so decided to sneak in to check some measurements for the curtain makers. Oh dear, a man in the kitchen clutching a saw. Then another bloke with a hammer. Don't know who was more shocked? Them or me. So whilst the Brickies had vanished, the fit out people were quitely putting in cabinets and cupboards, and benches, and stuff. Have a bad suspicion that I have a bad batch of bricks Re: Dove's Burbank Evolution 23 - PICS. BRICKS & Cabinets. 50Oct 06, 2010 3:58 pm The Brickies have been working for the last couple of days. BRICKS & Cabinets. 53Oct 07, 2010 1:56 pm Thanks Dee and Fraggie, they have now just about bricked up the front and and are progressing along the rear of the house. The comment relating to bad bricks was just me wondering why the brickies vanished early on the first day. Looking at the bricks on the pallets there seemed to be a lot of chipped corners. The brickies seem to be culling out what they don't like so all is well. We are hopeful that by mid next week the carpenter will be back to finish off the Facade. Also been told bench tops not far off. Re: Dove's Burbank Evolution 23 - PICS. More excitement this morning. We went to select curtains and blinds. Quote promised next week. I think that could be a bit more than my original estimate.
