Of course my solicitor claims she has done nothing wrong. And i have land tiltles and council me blaming each other. When I first bought my property I was told I bought number 39, then 37 a then 39a and finally i am number 37! But thats just the beginning - building a house is so stressful and my husband and I are about 3 weeks off from completion - thank God! My best word of advice is check every fine detail of workmanship from contractors - if they dont do the job properlly refuse to pay them - we have got done over with our gyprock and i refuse to pay him! I wish you all the best and if you need any advice or even someone just to vent to let me know as I have just been through the horrible adventures of BUILDING lol. Seda Re: Carlswil's Statesman Tusmore - waiting 184Aug 25, 2010 2:17 pm cous1981 :th: Whose bright idea was it to start building in winter???? Building in winter isn't a good idea. If everything had gone to plan, and they'd started when they originally said they would, the house would've been at lockup by now. Damn this weather. Cous, any more progress on your place? sedaa84 I know how you feel - we purchased a block of land in 2008 and I have been fighting with Land Titles and Council for over 2 years now to get the land put into my name. Seda Seda, I don't envy what you've been through. If I'd had to wait that long, I'd be screaming by now. My BF is extremely thorough in checking things. Everytime we go there, he's got the tape measure out measuring something. So I think between the two of us we'll by checking every fine detail of the build. That's great that you're 3 weeks away from completion. Congrats. That would be exciting. My dad's over here at the moment, and I had hoped that I'd be able to walk him through our house, instead of just showing him a lump of concrete (the excitement about the slab seems to have worn off now) Deemaree All of the waiting is one of the reasons we get so excited when something happens for others on H1! Re: Carlswil's Statesman Tusmore - waiting 195Aug 25, 2010 10:57 pm Fingers crossed that your frame goes up very soon Carlswil. Waiting is the worst part isn't it? (and as much as we need the rain... I'm over that too at the moment. Building and winter are not a great mix luckily spring is nearly here ) Re: Carlswil's Statesman Tusmore - waiting 196Aug 26, 2010 9:40 am flagstaffIV Can't wait to see a frame for you Carlswil!! Thanks flaggie, me too. robinred55 I'm hoping for next week carl. Hope its the same for you. Frames go up very quickly. Hopefully both of us next week. Monday looks like a nice day to put up a frame. Hickinbotham does seem to be able to build quickly once they get into it, so fingers crossed this is the worst of the waiting, and the action will start soon. Donski Fingers crossed that your frame goes up very soon Carlswil. Waiting is the worst part isn't it? (and as much as we need the rain... I'm over that too at the moment. Building and winter are not a great mix luckily spring is nearly here ) Thanks Donski. Yes the waiting is the worst part. But it does seem between me and my partner, that I'm the only one that is getting frustrated by the wait. I really wish that it didn't bother me. I've decided to get some boxing gloves and start boxing away my frustrations. It won't change anything, but it sure will make me feel better. contract signed: Nov 09 Released to Construction: 23 Jul 10 Slab poured: 9 Aug 10 Frame completed: 30 Aug 10 Windows & Gutters: 7 Sep 10 Bricks: 15 - 23 Sep 10 Roof: 24 Sep 10 Gyprock: 20 Oct 10 Lockup: 25 Oct 10 Kitchen: 27 Oct 10 Tiling: 6 - 9 Nov 10 Painting: 17 Nov 10 Carpet: 30 Nov 10 PCI: 15 Dec 10 Handover: 17 Dec 10 https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=35943 Re: Carlswil's Statesman Tusmore - waiting 197Aug 26, 2010 9:47 am My partner is the same, I just put it down to me being the one who is pretty much dealing with it all (the paper work and and all liasing with the builder) he better appreciate all my efforts lol. I have found boxing to be a great release and would definitely recommend it. Re: Carlswil's Statesman Tusmore - waiting 198Aug 26, 2010 9:51 am I'm the one dealing with most of it. Any issues we have, I have to get them fixed. Paperwork's my problem.
